The result will likely be fewer employers, in the hospitality industry, even trying to pay a living wage. In the US those that work for tips can legally be paid as little as $2.13 per hour. Will employers pass cutting pay on to the customers? Or will they increase their profit and guilt customers into paying 30% to 40% in tips to make up the difference?

Hospitality workers are taxed on a percentage of their income projecting 15 percent gratuity whether they are tipped or not . Id like to add Trump has paid more in taxes than you will make in 5 lifetimes .

No tax on tips. Some good and some down sides. The down side is that in the US, those that work for tips can legally be paid as little as $2.13 per hour. This will disincentivize employers from paying a living wage. (Don't count on the employers to lower the prices they charge.) They will just guilt customers to pay a 30% 40% tip on top what you already pay.

I was surprised that your discussion on the forthcoming debate missed a salient point that no notes are allowed for either candidate. One can't consider Biden's performance at the State of the Union as typical of a Biden speech and of course he had the assistance of the teleprompter on that occasion which he won't have at the debate. On the other hand it is not such a bad idea as Biden has difficulty reading a teleprompter, remember the "pause"...

Disabling comments is the normal policy for the ABC. They have to pay staff to moderate the comments if they keep them on. In Australia, the courts have found that companies can be held accountable for comments made on their posts/videos etc. (including for defamation).

Australia has big increases in people who are homeless too, but that’s due to the housing crisis. If being homeless itself is criminalised, then I suppose crime rates could be “rising”, but I don’t think that’s what people think of as crime. Maybe people could worry less about “crime” and more about ensuring everyone has access to the support they need
