I’ve always used witch hazel since in my 20’s and it’s helped a lot for breakouts and I think it’s anti-aging. I remember I started using it when I was 23 when seeing a woman in her early 40’s in a doctors office. Her skin was GLOWING and had no wrinkles, I remember being so blown away on how amazing her skin looked. I asked what was her secret and she said witch hazel. Crazy.

I have been actually pleasantly surprised by the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1.0 (not to be confused with version 1 which has alcohol in it), which has witch hazel and salicylic acid but no alcohol. It is marketed as a daily exfoliator to be used after the Clinique Liquid Soap Extra Mild. I use it after the Clinique Liquid Soap Extra Mild (which is very emollient for my dry skin, thankfully) and then follow it with the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream. My skin feels soft, even and smooth. My skin feels moisturized and the cream sinks quickly into my skin and the moisturizing effect doesn't disappear after a few hours as I have experienced with other moisturizers. I think these 3 products are meant to be used together for best results. I never would have thought to use that particular 3 step routine.

Thank you for this video, it was EXTREMELY interesting to me as I have been using "Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera Formula" every night for many years to remove my make up. I have very sensitive skin with some Rosacea & capillaries (I use metrogel once a day) so I like the Thayers also for the anti inflammatory/calming properties. I am disappointed they reformulated recently & added Phenoxyethenol though, don't love that ingredient. I may look into another cleanser to remove make up a couple times a week instead of using the Thayers every night like I do & see if I notice any differences. I had no idea about possible sensitivities from it, but so good to be aware. I do think it is helpful for some calming with my face though. And I will watch your other video to see the routine, although my skin is not oily....it is dry to combination. Have a great day! 😎

Per your advice, I'm using my remaining bottles of Witch Hazel (as well as random toners and wipes) to wipe any grunge and/or oil off my face when I wake up in the a.m. I then proceed straight to the shower and wash my face, so it generally remains on my face for no longer than a minute or two. If I'm not wearing makeup, I use the same procedure before washing my face before bed. Great video!

Hi! A new ingredient I didn't know about! One itch product I'd like to buy is the Itch Relief Moisturising cream. I have to go see the video because you already talked about this product.

Hi, Dr. Dray. Is there a product one can put on one’s arms and legs to help delay aging like Retin-A is used on the face?

The lady who waxes me always uses compresses soaked with witch hazel. It dries my already super dry legs.

My threading place uses witch hazel as well. I avoid on my upper lip but I let them put it on my eye brows. They say it helps with cutting down infections/bacteria that can spread? Idk not really sure if it does that after watching this video. But I guess I can try the product that she referred to in here as a good alternative if I wanted to. How she said to use after shaving....

Informative video! Dr. Dray what do you think about glycerin oil is it good for the skin? And how can we use it properly? Would you recommend it for oily skin? Can I mix it with something else and use it for the body?

Great review, Dr Dray! I've never used witch hazel as a toner but I have used it for bug bites. I think the alcohol in it could be very harsh for the face. Thanks so much! Have a relaxing evening. 🐬🐚🐬

Yes I do use witch hazel on my oily t-zone areas. I don't apply to my dryer face areas. However, thank you for the information on not leaving it on my skin without rinsing. Also, there are so many companies coming out with "cleansing balms." What are your thoughts on these? Thank you 😊
@jt81425 жыл бұрын
Wendy D: Dr Dray has a couple of videos on cleansing balms. To easily find them, type “dr dray cleansing balm” in the KZbin search bar.

I wonder what the difference is between using a good moisturizer with witch hazel in it v. using an alcohol free witch hazel as a toner and then following up with a good moisturizer. That is what I have done with the Thayer's Alcohol Free Witch Hazel and I feel that I get all the benefits without any sensitization.

You mentioned washing the witch hazel off if you are using it to degrease oily skin. Did you mean using cleanser to remove it or will rinsing it off with water suffice?
@sherryg18385 жыл бұрын
I have never tried it, and considering my fragrance allergy, seems like a good decision. Thanks for the video!

Dr.Dray! I know you have mentioned it before, but thayers has a new toner that is “unscented”. Although it doesn’t have fragrance, I believe it still has the grapefruit seed you mentioned. It this formula better than the original? Thank you!

Thank you for the video! Can you please do a video on dry but acne prone skin? Weird combination but It's super confusing to understand which products to use for my skin. For eg. Salicylic acid dries me out and Glycolic acid is ineffective for acne.

I used the Thayers rose witch hazel and it made my skin SO beautiful! The redness went away, only time I had clear skin in my life. But my dermatologist said witch hazel was terrible horrible horrible for the skin so I stopped.
