I’ve always used witch hazel since in my 20’s and it’s helped a lot for breakouts and I think it’s anti-aging. I remember I started using it when I was 23 when seeing a woman in her early 40’s in a doctors office. Her skin was GLOWING and had no wrinkles, I remember being so blown away on how amazing her skin looked. I asked what was her secret and she said witch hazel. Crazy.

Leslie Agnew Maybe accounts for the fact, that most people’s skin needs more care/richer products in winter, because the switch between cold air outside and warm, dry air inside is very stressful/drying for the skin. My skin is significantly oilier in summer than in winter and I do use different products, as the seasons change.

I have been actually pleasantly surprised by the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1.0 (not to be confused with version 1 which has alcohol in it), which has witch hazel and salicylic acid but no alcohol. It is marketed as a daily exfoliator to be used after the Clinique Liquid Soap Extra Mild. I use it after the Clinique Liquid Soap Extra Mild (which is very emollient for my dry skin, thankfully) and then follow it with the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream. My skin feels soft, even and smooth. My skin feels moisturized and the cream sinks quickly into my skin and the moisturizing effect doesn't disappear after a few hours as I have experienced with other moisturizers. I think these 3 products are meant to be used together for best results. I never would have thought to use that particular 3 step routine.

I used witch hazel for a short period of time because I noticed when I’d apply it to my face and neck, some hours later my face would produce more oil than before. So I would and rarely now use it to my face and neck. When I do (rarely), I apply and leave it for 5-10 minutes and then use a face wash to wash my face and neck and then follow up with Shea butter retinal face cream.

I had bought the Thayers brand years ago and I used it as a toner. I found it drying. I didn't think they have a fragrance free many years ago nor alcohol free. Now that I see this brand on the market, I don't buy because of the dryness it gives my skin.

Thank you for this video, it was EXTREMELY interesting to me as I have been using "Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera Formula" every night for many years to remove my make up. I have very sensitive skin with some Rosacea & capillaries (I use metrogel once a day) so I like the Thayers also for the anti inflammatory/calming properties. I am disappointed they reformulated recently & added Phenoxyethenol though, don't love that ingredient. I may look into another cleanser to remove make up a couple times a week instead of using the Thayers every night like I do & see if I notice any differences. I had no idea about possible sensitivities from it, but so good to be aware. I do think it is helpful for some calming with my face though. And I will watch your other video to see the routine, although my skin is not oily....it is dry to combination. Have a great day! 😎

Mindy A: Have you tried fragrance free witch hazel to see if that results in less redness?
@mindya6948
@mindya6948 5 жыл бұрын
@@jt8142 I have not, but I may try one to see if there is any difference. I am very careful with any products I buy with fragrance in them & I only buy things with natural fragrance, and the toner I use now has Rose which can have some beneficial properties to it. I am getting low on my Thayers right now, so will probably get a small size of something different to try out to see if there is any difference. Thank you. :)

Witch hazel is a product that is often mentioned as a product sufferers from rosacea should not take. Ihave rosace too and have removed products w8th witch hazel from my routine.

@@modestyblaise8536 Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. I have also heard witch hazel is not supposed to mix well with rosacea , but for some odd reason, my skin seems to like it & do ok with it & I do think it helps a bit. A lady I used to see for facials used to laugh & say that my skin does well with things that it shouldn't. After this video & comments though, I may try a little test to remove it from my routine to see if I notice any differences. So helpful having this community of people sharing great info. :)

Per your advice, I'm using my remaining bottles of Witch Hazel (as well as random toners and wipes) to wipe any grunge and/or oil off my face when I wake up in the a.m. I then proceed straight to the shower and wash my face, so it generally remains on my face for no longer than a minute or two. If I'm not wearing makeup, I use the same procedure before washing my face before bed. Great video!

My threading place uses witch hazel as well. I avoid on my upper lip but I let them put it on my eye brows. They say it helps with cutting down infections/bacteria that can spread? Idk not really sure if it does that after watching this video. But I guess I can try the product that she referred to in here as a good alternative if I wanted to. How she said to use after shaving....

I wonder what the difference is between using a good moisturizer with witch hazel in it v. using an alcohol free witch hazel as a toner and then following up with a good moisturizer. That is what I have done with the Thayer's Alcohol Free Witch Hazel and I feel that I get all the benefits without any sensitization.
