100% yes! more competition means Google, Samsung and now OnePlus won't get lazy and will up their game and lower their prices the more common these folding phones become. I am also looking forward to the device itself because of the massive outside screen of the mix 3. even if they just tweak it a bit and send it over it will still do well for those needing a wider font display folding phone. 👍

I doubt the prices get lower, considering the fact that even though we have all these slab phones to choose from the prices still went up with less and less in the box sadly.

Gotta say Shane, I am super appreciative of your continued coverage of all this new folding tech. As a Duo user (who bought one because of you, im even writing this comment on it), I am in full recognition that my favorite 2-screen device has a form factor that will be a rarity in the future. I wont be buying a folding phone until the screens become more durable, but hearing about these new developments and brands coming to the US is so exciting. Thanks for being a great source of info!

I think we definitely need more options in the folding phone space. Personally I would love to see Xiaomi and Vivo foldables getting global lauches. It would also be nice if Huawei was delisted. If for no other reason than to give Samsung some real competition.

I'm always excited for these foldables that come from China because they are really pushing these phones forward. I'm actually looking to purchase the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro but waiting for a deal to pop up. Just wish there was a global launch for Vivo. But I do love what Xiaomi is doing!

Yeah, when closed can actually use it like a normal phone. No weird funky aspect ratios off too short or too narrow.

for me to consider a phone a "global compliant phone" it has to have native play store support and band 71 for 600mhz 5g coverage

I just got my mix fold 3 by FedEx today. They shipped it from Hong Kong yesterday. I'm about to take it to a place to see if they can flash it/ root it so it will be fully compatible with tmobile.

Well excited really want this as I have spent the last three years with Chinese rum foldables I have had the oppo find n and then I have had the Vivo x-fold and now I have got the xiaomi mix fold 3.. for me it has been perfect with the xiaomi except pairing it with a smart watch which I managed to do with the galaxy watch 6 classic but still notifications are very slow for WhatsApp and also can get really frustrating with one or two things but still love it and can't wait finally want something like that with the global ROM😅

Definitely getting this. A folding phone closed with the size and aspect ratio of a normal phone. 😲 I don't care for Samsung's narrow displays or Pixel Fold's short one either.

All depend on price... $1700 and up is really sad.. what happened with the $1500 foldable that could kill the competitors? Still sad about the oneplus open pricing....

The thing is that the oneplus open can trade in ANY type of phone in ANY condition and it will be $1500. You could grab a broken piece of junk that doesn’t even work or even a cheap flip phone and send it in for $200 off. It’s effectively $1500 bc this isn’t just a preorder deal and an interview with oneplus rep said this will be throughout the life of the device being sold (I just checked it still does). I suspect they priced it this way to be less than the Z Fold but not too much less that it’s seen as inferior while still offering the $1500 price target they were after

Let's not kid ourselves, Global for these Chinese OEMs means Western Europe at best and prices in those markets tends to be more than in China due to local taxes but even so, the phones we've seen release in those markets still are heavyhanded with app killing and issues with receiving of notifications, things Chinese phone ROMs have had for years and yes you can on certain ones with some battery management tweaking make it better, things like Hey Google commands for instance don't work well. I'm all for competition these Chinese OEMs are primarily designing their software for their domestic market and that's where the bulk of their sales come from.

Hope they will get this one to Russia. My fold 4 showed me white line on the large screen after 5 months using without outside damage. Only open and close. I bought phone abrough and Russian Samsung refuse to get guarantee service. My 10 year Samsung story will be finished after this.

Europe imports are never ever cheaper than Chinese rom imports. Probably paid $500 AUD extra to get a global Xiaomi 13 ultra.

PRICES WILL BE AROUND 1;595 , the Thing with Xiaomi is the Software , is Trash , but it’s a hardware that will last you 7;years ,Xiaomi will be ready to Compete on the GLOBAL MARKET on the Second Quarter of 2025 , But is Good they keep investing

They would have to launch a sister or sub company to brand this with a different name. Xiaomi is too specific to a region and there are some people ( who despite unknowingly have so much) doesn't like to support products "made in china" I think the name would stagger there spread and sales.

Well Xiaomi does have 2 sub brands so they could launch a global version as Poco or redmi

I wouldn't, mainly due to the punch hole on the inner screen, it's just un-acceptable to me, though even still I really don't know that I would buy a Xiaomi device since even if it does have a "global" release it will likely still be barred from using the Google suite of apps as I don't think they were just barred from using it in China, but from using it at all.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a recent Chinese foldable that was being sent out with Google apps pre-installed. A lot of the time now even if they can't be pre-installed, they make it pretty darn easy too install them after the fact at least.

You have no idea what you're talking about, at all. Been using Xiaomi mi 11 ultra and now 13 ultra and they never had any ban or issues. Never had global version, always Chinese with global rom and never an issue, at all.
