Mongoose still has high quality $2000+ bikes you just have to go to an actual bike shop that supports mongoose or go online. Ive noticed great brands are shunned upon because they start selling the cheapest bikes possible aimed at kids and poor families in big box stores. Mongoose, Schwinn and other brands have been given a worse rep thanks to big box stores.

This turned out to be an amazing demonstration, thank you! The reason the tires deformed is because water is NOT compressible. Air is however and can absorb and disperse that energy. At first I was little surprised to see that happen but considering its full of water not unexpected once you think about it.

When this video came out, I was riding a mongoose hardtail and I remember feeling motivated to work hard at it. I'm still not great at manuals or wheelies, but I can bunnyhop decently and I've hit some pretty decent drops over the years. I now ride a full enduro beast of a bike and I can´t thank my mongoose enough for all that learning. Sadly, my heavily upgraded mongoose was stolen last year, but it did what it was meant to. Wow, I own a several older quality bikes(2008 Giant Rincon, 1992 Huffy Revolution 21 speed), and another old improved road bike, but an old tailbone/hip/lower back injury makes it difficult this summer to get back into riding, it gets better with use but the pain from jarring through the seat on a hardtail makes it painful to work, so I bought just now a Mongoose steel frame version of this bike for $107 for shipping to my home, .....for "rough street", ....the tailbone pain will go away after a month of regular riding as usual, but this little bike using thirty minutes every other day should ease me back into it all,...no "mountain biking" needed of course,....I was impressed that the front suspension in your video, that it survived,.....I just worry about wheel hubs, I mean, its been a very long time since I had a department store bike, and I believe the hubs of the wheels were better back then. I think I read enough reviews on the walmart website to make a sure bet that this model was giving dependable service to those who know bikes(not those with unreal expectations and no ability to adjust anything), and I hope the mongoose warranty covers any bogus problems that could arise, like weak wheel hubs or such, I mean, I'll hold them to it while it under any sort of warranty,....unsure though, I couldn't determine a warranty of any kind on the website.....I suppose I could have bought one of those springy seat posts the bike shop sells locally(maybe I will have to anyway), but this el cheapo alternative seems okay to me for the price, I just care about getting to use it up and down the local streets to toughen up my old injuries with fewer problems that I am having, but I do expect to get years of use out of it, I suppose if the hubs aren't warranties and stretch out the bearing pockets inward like I noticed before on cheap hubs, then I could I guess replace the hubs with something a little more quality, or put some 26" rims on it I have from a quality bike I parted out with decent rims,.....or even the rims off the old huffy revolution with 26" rims and 21 speed and quick releases, I mean, the rear wheel has original free hub but the bike is rusty as found used at a thrift shop befor I took apart all the assemblies and regreased them including the sealed shimano bottom bracket assembly right along with replaced many of the rusted spokes,,....though its made in America from 1992, so I might just keep it together unlike several other bikes I parted out for rims, tires and shifters found at thirft shops for low dollars.

this video was hillarious! and the excuse of not being able to wheelie their bike due to the weight has always been bs, and you just prooved what i havent seen any evidence of before but almost anyone knew. my bike isn't light, almost 15 kg. and for me weighing in at under 70 kg or i think about 135 pounds is it pretty heavy, but it is all due to the 160mm front and 150mm rear suspension and enduro build quality.

@@evansoutdoors4022 true, not many 40 kg bikes tho. it is all about having the streangth to get up on the rear wheel and the balance to keep it there. but the difference in the amount of power it takes to do a wheelie when changing the weight is pretty small. shure, there is a line. i would personally say tho that the geometry makes a way bigger difference, a long and slack bike is way more difcult to wheelie

@isaks32435 жыл бұрын
@@evansoutdoors4022 a big tip when learning how to wheelie, try not to pull with all of your body, let your legs do most of the work. most people, me included, in the beginning when trying to learn to wheelie try to pull all they can with their arms, what this does is putting one in a pretty bad position to wheelie, ie, with bent arms. try to push your body back instead until you lock in a fully extended position with your upper body pretty much hanging from your hands, this is a much stabler position and helps you stay in controll. but it can be another matter when turning where you might have to bend one arm to turn sharp enough but you shouldn't have to do so for most of the time. good luck mate. ps: i learnt how to wheelie on a cheap ass bike built from scrap found at the local scrapyard.

I rode a $75 walmart mongoose for 4 years doing basic street stunting and wheelies. Got decent at wheelies, could bunnyhop(haven't tried it the way you do it, I lift both wheels at once), did jumps etc. I ended up wearing the FRONT tire bald first strangely enough. It was a dual suspension bike, and the front suspension held up pretty well, but the rear spring didn't spring back all the way after enough use, and would flop around on the shock and be SUPER SOFT. The brakes were also terrible, rear brake didn't do anything, front brake was weak. I slowed down by stuffing my shoe in between the front wheel the the forks. Good times. I didn't know about proper bike maintenance back then, so I never improved it. I don't remember any steering or bearing problems though. Now I have a Trek Y3 and an old Specialized Rockhopper with an engine.

Such humor 😂 I genuinely liked it. Thanks for motivating me to practice. My bike weighs 16 kg and I weigh 60 kg. So I should be able to bunny hop.

Mongoose used to have a good name in BMX what the fuck happened.
@GTChucker868 жыл бұрын
Mongoose tried to outsource their name to Pacific Bicycles, Now Pacific Bicycles has the right to manufacture cheaply built bikes and slap the Mongoose name to it,Pacific Bikes distribute and manufacture various bike "Brands" and sell them to Department stores and retailers like Walmart or Target. Real Mongoose bikes are found in bike shops and they are built to a much higher quality. Bikes like the Mongoose Fireball are a few good examples that are commonly found in bike shops

I mean, for the price, it's probably one of the better bikes. None of these tests show how it is supposed to operate.

I don't think people are saying it's physically impossible to wheelie their bike, but that it's harder -- if you're learning especially. I had trouble getting a good wheelie on my 34 lb fat bike. It just took massive power to get the wheel up, and most of the time it was nowhere near the balance point. Then I replaced the square tape crankset it came with more modern two piece, and immediately it was easy to get the bike up into a wheelie, even though I was using approximately the same gear as before. Now its effortless to get the bike to the balance point, although keeping it there is a different story. The savings was 381 grams -- a lot, and the bike now ways (ta da) 33 pounds instead of 34. I'm not saying that 13 ounces has turned me into a wheelie master, or that other people will get the same results, or that nobody in the world could have wheelied the bike in its stock configuration. But a little weight in the right place can affect the bike's characteristics enough to make a noticeable difference.

Walmart bikes are the best option for some people, like my sister who has ridden her bike maybe 6 miles. She'll never wear a single part and it reduces the wasted money.
