I think everyone like you, me, us all in the camera photography space on KZbin are actually realizing theirs a certain point where talking about gear just leads to more talking about gear because we dig ourselves into this mindset that this is what our audience expects from us. I am with you man. Let's not settle. I love your short stories so far and will 100 percent watch more. It gives me a lot of inspiration.

I completely agree with how you feel, and the answer that I told myself in being overwhelmed at one point with the question of “there’s a lot I want to do, but what should I do?”. The answer that I came up with was to ride the wave of how I’m feeling. Know when to force yourself to do things but aswell know when it’s okay to not do it. Just taking it a day at a time however with a successful future set into my sight that I’ll eventually reach

Hey PT, glad you're finding a way to keep your creativity active and stretching your filmmaker muscles. I think the new title for this video was a good move. I was somehow turned off from "Dumb" but this got me curious to click - and once I clicked I was glad I did. Ultimately the goal of the thumbnail and title is just to get eyeballs on your film and your video definitely delivers once you get us here my friend. I definitely relate to the challenge of feeling like KZbin only rewards educational, review type videos. Artistic videos seem to perform less well - even though they're often the videos we're more proud of. I hope that rather than these two ideas being opposed to each other -- you're finding a way to creatively express yourself WHILE STILL helping your audience to grow and learn with you. That feels like the secret sauce. I dislike the tech reviewers who basically list specs, and take ugly photos and basic videos to tell you about a brand new camera or lens. I APPRECIATE channels like yours that show what art you can actually create with the tech their using. And who can talk about what aspects of the tech made it helpful or not. Anyway, cheers PT and I'm looking forward to your next one.

got the start, got the twist, got the ending, and the whole package/production/setup has comedic essence in it, and the iphone car washer short you did, a little bit slow motion in the washing machine, the right sound to go with, and the sunlight shining through the long thin brush hair to create strong graphical silhouette, you are on to something, yes, you should keep working toward that and the gear review thing, you kept saying it was doing great, do you mean it generate good income while being boring and eroding to your inner character, well then keep doing it, it pays the bill, it helps you get equipment and asset I might do gear review as well if it does indeed make good money just like that

My new favorite KZbinr. This was mad Dope. Need more creative content like this. This is the shit that motivates. The camera tech community has become so toxic with people calling every lens trash if it doesn’t provide the “butteriest boka”. What’s really sad is that so many creators are now catering all of their content to these boka bitches. But I get it. people gotta feed their families and do what pays the bills. I Just wish more guys(and girls) would actually show us what these cameras can do on a creative level. And you’re doing that. Respect.

I've noticed hardly any of these KZbin "filmmakers" have any short films to their name and especially not a feature film when they have all the gear and knowledge on how to use it. No excuse really. If Spielberg or Scorsese was growing up in today's KZbin generation, they'd be making a short film EVERY week.

Been dealing with this creative dilemma myself! I aspire to learn enough to film my first short film, but getting too focused on 'growing the channel' and chasing those likes, which for my channel tends to result from gear reviews videos etc. I spend days editing a video and pushing my limits of creative knowledge (on a gopro admittedly), and get like 200 views. Then I review a tent and get 5k views. I keep reminding myself I want to be a filmmaker not a youtuber.

this is actually really inspiring.. definitely a great conviction to keep things fresh and fun. sometimes we get paralyzed trying to think of a grand idea that it inhibits us from creating at all. these can be viewed as something similar to doodling in art.. sometimes doodles just keep you moving the pen, and sometimes doodles turn into grand ideas.
