"Let me ask you something, why don’t people trust their instincts? They sense something is wrong, someone is following too close behind them. You KNEW something was wrong. But you came back into the house. Did I force you, did I drag you in? No. All I had to do was offer you a drink. It’s hard to believe the fear of offending can be stronger than the fear of pain. But you know what? It is. And they always come willingly." the psychopath ensnares you with his mind long before a weapon surfaces. Also this mirrors the plot line in Fincher's The Killer.

When you compared it to Seven and that they both were about 2 detectives, my first thought was that, "huh, yeah an old black dude and a young guy with an anger problem...."

I heard a film historian once explain how nothing good ever happens in a basement in movies, basements (and similar subterranean spaces) always represent deep, dark secrets and repression on film. And the movie he was talking about at the time? "The Most Dangerous Game," the same film Graysmith is following up on in this scene.

Did you know that Charles Fleischer also did the voice of the crazed callers on the TV show in Zodiac? I think that single bit of trivia shines a whole different, creepy light on Bob Vaughn's character.

LOVED how random that outro was. :D :D :D And I totally agree on where the camera market (and tech review scene) is at. Hasn’t changed at all since you made this video. Sure, each new generation of cameras will be better, but mostly in ways that aren’t super significant for a lot of use cases. Let’s just get on with creating, both for fun as well as for clients, and not think about gear more than we have to. Gear is important, but most gear is really good anyway. But living life as a creative never gets old. <3

9:24 yes let the dark be dark, light be light. These days a lot of times they get bumped up and pulled down to where it compromises on realism; it doesn't ground the footage to what we know.

Ah yes the Canon C300 mark I. Canon always had very good out of the box colors for both video and photo. I can deliver something very similar with my GH5, but it takes time and effort. But the first C300 was something special, ppl stil rave about it. Very much an outlier.

Marvel makes me want to vomit until I can't stop. you're right. looking at those cement-grey shots is just ... kind of a perfect metaphor for what those movies often are. even the best of all of them - _Civil War,_ that shot of them lining up has the cinematography style of a medical clinic waiting room. boo! lame! great film, but really rought to see it stood up next to _The Batman,_ which was just an okay movie ... but a really cool-looking one. if they can nail it with the sequel, we could have a Batman movie for the ages. Robert Pattinson could be the best Batman, bar none.

I am not even remotely creative but I love music, comedy, and seeing art that just seems to come effortlessly to someone. Every damn song is so catchy and ridiculously fun, sad, uncomfortable, beautiful, and makes me so sad because going back to it now that my mom passed away the end of 2021 when we listened to the hell out of these songs and danced if she wee feeling well before chemo. It's really weird because I never felt locked down and isolated like others did. I have no idea how people are so creative and make it work and have the talent and work ethic to put it together, make it cohesive, it's mind boggling to see setting up, filming, writing, shooting singing, doing the instrumentals, editing, knowing what fits and what doesn't. It seems so hard and it's why I have the highest regard for people who create things because I feel like I just consume what's been made by people I have nothing in common with but what they do means everything to me. Being an artist seems like a burden but worth it when you get it right.

Most of the jet sequences are CG. CG in itself isn’t bad when you’re using it make something impossible to shoot. Only bad CGI is bad.

Just wanted to say that if you're someone who was raised around unpredictable parent figures and struggle with anxiety in adulthood because of it, the unpredictably of Longlegs is so utterly unsettling. I know a lot of people found the humor in his character (and I'm not trying to challenge that by the way), but as someone with anxiety I was absolutely dreading every moment of him onscreen. Then of course that ONE scene where he suddenly snaps just validated the unease I felt about him from the start. Truly horrifying!

Niko from Corridor once said the most beautiful statement... he says "Any camera is capable of creating an emotionally compelling image" not necessarily any image, but leverage the specific strengths and weaknesses of a specific camera and you got something you can work with.
