Vick had an incredible arm & his throwing motion was a thing of beauty. It was like a flick of the wrist that launched 70 yard passes.
@jpmnky4 жыл бұрын
Had he WANTED it, he could've been a top tier passing talent. When his legs started to give, he showed that he had an arm. If he put in the grind, he'd be up there with Manning, Brees, Brady in stats. Probably the most God gifted athlete to play football. Imagine if he'd given even 80-90%.

Getting Instructions Agree but I also believe that Vick is a good example of how a team owner can decide to force a West Coast offense on a QB when there were MUCH better options. Imagine switching Lamar Jackson to a West Coast Offense right now.

Holy crap, I never thought about the reversal of the rotation of the ball. Sure to some it might just be trivial and others it comes down to just being a mental issue, but after 15 years give or take of experiencing something a specific way I could see that causing a mistake or two the first few times dealing with it maybe ...but then again if that's something that makes you screw up, then you probably shouldn't be in the league

As a kid who lived in Chicago at the time Bobby Douglass was the QB for the Bears. He was so entertaining to watch and I loved watching his games. Then I lived in Jacksonville when Mark Brunell played for the Jags. He was exciting to watch, he ran an offense well and then boom, he took them to the playoffs. All of JAX was Jags Crazy! It was so much fun. My dad had season tickets. Jim Zorn was heck of a player. He scrambled like Tarkenton and when he had time to throw the ball, he could really put the ball down the field. Mike Vick has my wrath for the dog fighting stuff, but he paid for it. As a football player, he was amazing. Frankie Albert had so much going against him, yet was a great player for the 49ers. I know of him because I lived in SF, just before I joined the military. I loved my NFL history from time I wrote a little newsletter for our neighborhood about the sports scores and highlights over weekend. I had a shortwave radio and could pull in stations from all over the country. So, I got scores before my friends did watching the local tv stations. That was in the early 1970s, long before the internet. Boomer Esiason was a great addition to the Bengals. I'd lived in Cincinnati for 2 years in high school times and met my wife there when we were 15. Ken The Snake Stabler was incredible! I was in SF about then and one of my former teachers played offensive line for them. Mr. Dave Rowe taught metal shop to me in NJ when I was a kid. Mr. Rowe was the biggest teacher I ever had and was also the nicest guy I ever had as a teacher. What a truly great man. Yeah, Steve Young. Hmmm ... I am still not a big fan of his. I'm sorry, I'm a Joe Montana fan forever. I'll give Steve Young respect, he was definitely a great player. Though I'm still a faithful Joe Montana fan, period. Sorry Mr. Young, nothing personal.

Rowe played D-line. I think he was about 6'7." He must have had some great stories! Joe and Steve were both top ten all-timers. I can be objective here because I was always a Raiders fan and so had no dog in that particular fight.

Scott Mitchell is one of NFL Networks favorite punching bags for some reason. His spot at #10 is pretty much an inside joke, even though I think its harsh
@tempest200003 жыл бұрын
The thing about Mitchell I think about is that he wasn’t as good as the 2 guys that preceded him. I mean Erik Kramer helped them get all the way to the NFC Championship game in 91 and Dave Kreig had several good years in Seattle as well as a good year in 94.
@lap2garage8543 жыл бұрын
I remember being a ten year old Lions fan and thinking we found the guy that's going to get us there when Mitchell signed with the lions. We had the reviewers, the fullback, the line, the best running back ever and now we have a QB. But just like everyone else they put behind center for Detroit in the 90's he had a handful of flashes of brilliance but a majority of the time he was average to below average when the game really mattered. Still he was better than Andre Ware, Erik Kramer, chuck long, Rodney Peete, Bob Gagliano and some other no name guys I can't remember... But when all is said and done I would've taken Mitchell over Kitna... God it's hard to be a faithful Lions fan.

No, he won't be. We said that about Matt Leinart. And some said it about Tebow, McNown, Chris Simms, ect, ect, ect. Hope you're right. But I wouldn't get too excited about it. Maybe in three years you can tell me how stupid I was for thinking this.

I’d put Vick higher just because of his running ability
@kadenwolf5798 Жыл бұрын
Vick has to be higher. The dude threw 50 yard bombs on a wrist flip. Who does that?

didn’t that one dude from the worst free agent signings say Scott Mitchell had one of the best seasons as a qb?

Steve Young is the greatest left handed qb in nfl history.

Steve Young at #1 Was there ever any doubt? Lol
@ckobo843 жыл бұрын
Only the Tamp Bay Succaneers could mess up on Steve Young and Bo Jackson. All that sucking to get the #1 picks and then completely f-ing it up.

Yes, as many (including myself) think it should have been Stabler#1 and Young #2

Good list. Steve definitely number one but as good as he is was I still believe they would have won more than one super bowl if Joe Montana was the man.
@benhaney9629 Жыл бұрын
Nah. Steve was clearly and objectively the better QB like 1991 on...
