Thank you for this important message about owning ISBN's. Unfortunately, I went with Amazon free ISBN for my first two books as I did not know then what I know now. For my 3rd I have bought my ISBN's and put a barcode on it. For all of my books I did register my copyright and registered with the Library of Congress. Much appreciated.

Great video. I would like to see a separate video on how to use Overdrive to get a book into libraries. Can authors still have their book in Kindle Select if the eBook is available in libraries?

You can't use Overdrive directly - you can only gain access via the aggregators and then promote your book to libraries directly from there.

The million dollar question, I want to use Amazon ASIN number for Amazon sales. However, I want to slap a barcode sticker with my ISBN number on books sold in stores I have an agreement with. It is my understanding that if you publish with an ISBN through Amazon that you have to put a city and state on your copyright page. Is this accurate? Does this also mean I would now have to have my own publishing company in my name or some company name?

Hmmm that sounds tricky but I guess if they aren't buying from Ingram - you're just doing consignment that would work. Why not just use an ISBN for all of them? If it's going to be sold in the store it will be listed in a catalog and there could be all kinds of issues having an ASIN and an ISBN. The essential elements for a copyright page are: Copyright notice (© symbol, year, and copyright owner's name) "All rights reserved" statement
