Any coilover options for the mk7.5 Golf R's yet??

After you set the preload on your rear springs, how do you adjust ride height? I feel if you adjust the height after preload, it now changes the preload on the spring? Cant seem to get explanation on this anywhere. Help!!!

**CAUTION** There are three types of 24mm Axle Bolts that are used on the mk6 gti platform (ribbed 12pt head, non ribbed 12pt head and the hex bolt head) each one has a different torque spec but they are all TTY (Torque to yield bolts) and if removed (which isn't technically necessary for this job) they should be replaced with a new bolt. they only cost around $5 USD. Newer VWs are commonly using TTY bolts. I found out the hard way when reusing my inner CV joint Axle bolts after a clutch kit upgrade. Great product though, I'm considering them or BC BRs as they are both a great price point and performance.

hi ktn745, I am about to diy my coilover. saw your good comment. how bad if i reuse the inner cv joint axle bolts? mind to share what happen to u last time?
@ktn7453 жыл бұрын
@@RL-ru2st I would highly recommend you don't. I had about 150 miles on the car after completing the work and it was handling weird. I got the car in the air and found that most of the bolts had backed out and thrown most of the grease out. I had the cv axles rebuilt to be safe. But its worth the 50 dollars in bolts, to ensure you don't spend 300 on rebuilding or 800+ on a new set. Good luck 👍

@@ktn745 thank you ktn! i think i will keep the centre cap open, mark the nut and monitor it. as i need to disassemble again to do other work.

He got it done but YES, every bolt he touched should have been Replaced and Torqued properly. New Rear upper mounts? DOH. Big advocate of subtle Blue Loctite use. We ride em' hard and can't have ANYTHING come loose or break.

What is the real-life benefit of the triple S springs? How do they translate into a "better" ride quality on a streetcar, on street comforts for example?

I saw the rears are 6k spring rate. What rate did you go with on the front ? 8k ?

@@silverSScamaro yeah not tightening the top hats to the struts even makes it impossible to match ride height without having each side equally"uneven" while setting the ride height. Only know from experience 🤷♂️
