Well if you check the history of music, it was never done for entertainment. Originally in every aboriginal culture it is a respected way of expressing spiritual devotion. That you can call prayer but now in mainstream this is for entertainment and it is toxic 99% of them. Most of them use 440hz which is very harmful for brain.

Allah never said music is haram. Prophet Muhammad SAW allowed some to play music sometimes and sometimes told some to not play music. So scholars say it's because such and such instruments were allowed and such and such weren't allowed. Allah didn't talk about it in Quran.

I think the main problem is that music generally has a huge effect on you. It affects you emotionally, it can change your mood etc. It can actually be manipulative in some way. For example, if soft and generally nice music is played in stores, customers tend to hang around for longer and spend more of their money. And then the opposite for loud music, customers tend to hang around for less time. People don’t realise, but music has huge effects on an individual. It is quite fascinating.

There's many scientific studies done on this. Different types of music have different effects on the brain, you can even start thinking differently! There's many studies done on this, you can look some of them up. The one I used as an example in my original comment is one of them. I'm also not saying that music makes people evil. I said that the problem with it is that it generally has a huge effect on you. That is the problem in itself. Like, military songs and instruments that were used on battlefields many decades or centuries ago weren't there just for show, they were there to boost the morale of soldiers and make them more "battle ready".

If you want to live in an environment where laws are strict than you should live in a state with strictly laws. According to that pattern of thinking, an anarchist state would be better than any other. And again, I never said music is evil 😑, I’m saying (yet again) that music has a big effect on an individual. And that can cause people to act differently than they usually would. The individual may not notice it, but this is a scientifically proven fact. When I say this, the fact that it CAN alter some things about an individual, is the reason it is considered as haram by many muslims. There’s obviously some music that may be considered as good aswell, and some as bad. But the problem in islam is that music in itself has a big effect on an individual, whether it is good or bad. That effect the music causes is haram in itself.

I've experienced this personally. Was too addicted to listening to music to the point that I'd be on my headphones the majority of the hours in a day. I'd listen to it since the moment I wak up to late at night before bed. It also hurts so much when you link a particular song with a memory with someone or somewhere and it's now out of your hands (impossible) to see that someone or to visit that place. In that case, hearing even a short few seconds of that particular song will literally set a fire in your chest. Making your yearning for that person, even worse. Alhamdulillah for finally being able to live 100% music free. It's absolutely liberating. You start to connect with nature and engage better in your surroundings. You focus and actually try to face your problems instead of distracting yourself by music. I found living in a muslim majority country helpful. Unlike when I was living in a Western country where you barely walk few steps without hearing music in the background. Also make sure you have friends and family who are supportive of your decision and respect your choices. Allah Taala guide us all towards Him, and make us steadfast, where no one and nothing can lead us astray. Ameen.

The thing is, I’m a music producer, who is also muslim , I understand how frequencies work and how they can affect you negatively, but they can also affect your positivity, there has to be a balance and the fact is I agree with the Quran in some aspect where it tells you that you shouldn’t listen to music, but I disagree with the fact that you shouldn’t listen to all music because of it fact is there is positive music and there is negative music, it is okay to listen to positive music, it is not good to listen to music that impacts you in a negative way, however, if you dig deeper and understand, frequencies on a deeper level, there are frequencies out there, which are called solfeggio frequencies, which actually can help heal your mind body and your soul

I'm a 80's teen. Music was a fundamental of identity back then. I remember how important it was that I learn the names of all the band members of Duran Duran so I could communicate with my friends. I never really realised at the time how we were being socialised into particular ways of thinking with the likes of culture club, Franky goes to Hollywood and Madonna. We were being made into spiritually bankrupt consumers, take the movies, music and clothes away and we were lost for identity. I struggled to become an adult because I thought I was somehow different from these older people. As time has gone on and music has become worse and more pervasive I don't see an improvement in the human condition.

It’s haram simply because the prophet said so. Sahih Al bukhari 5590: Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful…” This is a clear indication that it is haram.

This is very diffirent. There are some scholars that i know of that to this day say watching tv is haram and honestly its justifiable because i turn on the tv and see many things that have a negative impact also watching tv can be considered a huge waste of time or even an addiction. However that is their take and that is them using their knowledge to make a judgement about something that was new to us. However with music its not a question wether its haram or not. It is haram. Because unlike tv and making videos there is a hadith that says that music is haram.

I used be very depressed, and when i get depressed i get this need to listen to sad music and it get me more sad and defeated.. one day i just started to listen to Quran instead and things really started to get better and brighter without me even realizing it at first, my heart just became more calm and my mind collected.. listening to Quran instead also made me more thoughtful to my prayers and doing the right thing because Quran will remind you of that.. also in the case of those who are addicted to drugs or pornography, prayers and Quran will definitely pull you from that dark pit of doom.. I was about to say the same. I myself is learning Carnatic music from past 6 years. It requires sadhana, and my teacher she is an 82 year old pure hearted lady. Assalamualaikum.I am a Muslim, Alhamdulillah. I was pretty addicted to listen music (only good lyrics one) as random teenagers do. That time was great misery for me. I had. So many phycological problems, getting bad grades in exams, felt depressed without any reason,I had a lot of anxiety. I couldn't understand why this happening to me. It distracted me in study and daily works. Quility of my Salah was also down. I constantly asked for Allah's guidelines and forgiveness. One day I got the opportunity to understand what is the cause of my problems. I am a survivor of music addiction. I want to say to my Muslim brothers and sisters that if u listen to music and you are in problems like mine then try to quit it instantly and seek help from the Almighty. inshsAllah will get the right direction.

Do you know music can calm distressed minds, can help to reduce anxiety, depression. Best example see crying babies, when they hear lullaby music, they calm down and relax. There was a study conducted on cows.. cows exposed to relaxation music produced more milk. This person is not a psychiatrist or psychologist. Please listen to only licensed medical professionals. I agree negative music can cause chaotic behaviours. But not positive music, good music is always good for humans and animals.

It's not haram because back in the days nobody knew about it, nobody knew about the worse effects of caffeine and sugar. So it's halal. Please don't say drinking too much tea is haram haha... I'm from Saudi Arabia.. black tea is an essential part in their daily life, hooka tooo. Any ways just don't point out the Hollywood industry. Look the vast majority of music industries all over the world. There are songs about gods, tribes, devotion, kings , etc.... There are beautiful songs.. music is an art form. Don't implement 7th century Arab mentally or culture in today's world. It will drag you back from reality. Read about other scriptures, other cultures, other civilizations that existed and are currently existing. It will open up minds. Read science books, discover the actual reason of many phenomena occuring in the world. Don't just rely on Quran. As one culture says" knowledge is divine". There soooooo many things to learn not just Quran. And also I know for a fact that few Muslim scholars only cherry pick the good verses out of Quran to show it's absolutely beautiful but have anybody read the brutal parts of Quran? . It's not just Quran though there are bad things in many holy scriptures." Killing a man is equal to killing the entire humanity" is just the beginning of the verse you should read the rest of the verse then you will find out it's only applicable to killing Muslims, killing non Muslims are fine. I don't agree with anyone here sugar coating their religion without reading and understanding the entire thing.

I realized this a few months back. After listening to the music/songs, our mind keep repeating those words and almost at every places it feels meaningless to me. Like I'm crossing the road what's the point of having 'my money don't giggle giggle' in the back of my mind while Crossing the road and if a car looses control and I die, that's the least possible way I want death like not having a song in the back of my mind. I still sometimes get engaged with music but I'm trying my best. If I like the lyrics I go and check but I wouldn't go and check the song, at least I started like this. I want myself to feel disgusted when a song is playing, so I leave the place, that's how much I want to stay out of it. I would love to do zikr while I take a shower, not sing "Baby shark Doo." Pray for me I want to get rid of it.

It's forbidden to say anything inside the bathroom. That's why there is dua before entering the bathroom and after exit. Any zikr inside is strictly forbidden

It's very good to confirm. well truly speaking i heard this sometime ago so i don't really remember. But the logic behind this is the following We know there are two angels,karaaman katibeen with us all the time.When one enters bathroom/ toilet or if the person is with his/her spouse (having private time )then at that time karaman katibeen no longer accompany us. When we say something inside bathroom. Then they have to come to us immediately. They feel uneasy that time with us because we don't cover ourselves inside the bathroom. So to prevent them from this uneasy feeling one should not say anything. If needed badly them obviously one can talk or say something. Well if you get any reference then share it with me

@@unaizahadi9079 any zikr inside is forbidden because zikr of Allah demands taharat/cleanliness of the person and place . And obviously bathroom is not an ideal clean place in terms of zikr . Hope I have answered your questions. My point of view is that this is more a point of respect of angels and zikrullah than a matter of haddes or reference from sahaba
