Bittersweet for us too! We haven't talked about the van on KZbin because we are enjoying releasing Loop videos 😁 We did a podcast about it (the pursuit of happiness) and have discussed it on our email list for the last few months. Thanks for watching, Emily!

We are in Cape Coral and Pelican Bay is our “go to” anchorage on a whim. It took 10 months to get us floating again after Ian. We lift our PDQ 34 the water levels lifted our boat off the lift after it beat a hole in one of the hulls, our home was another story.

Wow... so sorry to hear that, Debra! We hope you're at least somewhat back to normal as of now, but that is a really tough event to go through 🙏

This is a truly beautiful area..It is one part of Florida I have not spent much time in and don't have much familiarity with. I could have, my parents did buy a lot on Marco Island but they sold it before doing anything with. They had also looked at places in Fort Myers avd Naples area. I am actually thinking of "pivoting" to getting a van or RV and doing that instad of getting another boat and exploring that way. I think that it will be less taxing to operate something on land than a boat. It won't be until next year at least before I do that becaise while 2023 was my year of figting cancer, this is my year of recovering from it. I just finished my fitst of three weeks of daily radiation treatments and I was so worn out yesterday, I slept the entite day. Two nore weeks of radiation and i hope that is it for all my cancer treatments. I am interested to see how you guys approach your explanations by a van.
@SchoandJo7 ай бұрын
That seems like a reasonable Pivot! It gets you out there quicker so you can still travel while recovering. I hope our future videos help there! 🙏

So excited you are close to wrapping up the loop. Random question have you ever used the Bimini(awning) on your dinghy?
@SchoandJo8 ай бұрын
Thanks 😊 Good question; yes, we have used it, just once, though! We used it during a snorkeling expedition in the Keys before starting the Loop. The sun protection was nice but the main reason we don't use it often is that it gets in the way. Getting in and out of the dinghy was much harder with it up, so we opted to not use it and instead go for large-brimmed hats and sunscreen. There are some other times it would have been helpful but not something we would look for in our next dinghy, if that helps :)

I’m about to purchase the same Epropulsion outboard - though not a get up and go fast motor, are you happy with it just for tooling around? My dinghy is a 9’ RIB
@SchoandJo8 ай бұрын
We were super happy with it until it broke! So overall, we would say yes to electric, although we may try a torqueedo next time. Essentially our ePropulsion just seized up, and the company didn't offer to help at all. There's a bit more to it, but more info is at the top of our review blog. LMK if you have any other questions! schoandjo.com/e-propulsion-dinghy-motor-review/
@michaelmiller25998 ай бұрын
@@SchoandJo thx so much for the quick reply - sounds and looks like it’s actually a very good ‘not fast’ outboard - also sounds like its demise was some fault of your own? Curious why you would now consider the Torqeedo over the Epropulsion? Again, thanks for your reply - I’m excited to get my new 2024 RT29CB where I’ll be using the new outboard on the new 9’RIB dinghy just for tooling around and short jaunts to dinghy docks when anchored out. Also, just sold my Mercedes Winnebago RV that made for a perfect go anywhere home on the road. 😉
@SchoandJo8 ай бұрын
It was great, until it broke! Wether it was a fault of our own is debatable, our thoughts were that if it can be broken beyond repair with normal use (i.e. we ran over submerged fishing line within a month of use) then it doesn't have the build quality we recommend in an expensive product. Also, even though the company thought so, I doubt that was the reason why it broke because that happened one month after purchasing it and it broke about 18 months later, so a large time difference. In general, since the motor was unrepairable (i.e. it had to be serviced by professionals), and it completely bricked within the warranty, and the company wasn't helpful in getting it resolved - we don't recommend the product. It sucks because it really was such a good motor for the majority of boat life, just at the end it broke. You may have a different experience, they may have fixed their quality issues, I hope they did! @@michaelmiller2599

@@SchoandJo @KellysCanoeing - Kelly I was thinking the same thing. I think what made Jen & Elliott so successful on YT doing the loop (as well as having groupies/followers at AGLCA events) is that they brought such a young /positive / interesting energy to an activity where they are 20 years younger than the typical looper. I hope vanlife works out for them personally- but unfortunately YT / social media is way over saturated with vanlife channels and it will be challenging to stand out from the crowd the way they have with the loop.
@SchoandJo8 ай бұрын
I (Elliot) am grateful that you both were interested enough in the Loop to watch these videos. This being said, we are more than just the Loop and have much more we want to show on this channel. The Loop was only the second pivot. We plan to take our love of learning and enthusiasm at trying something new as we take the next step. Sure, there is plenty of van content on KZbin, but we plan to make it unique to us. We want to encourage people to embrace the pivot, take the leap, and reach out for your goals and interests. Whether that be looping or otherwise. If you like us and our approach to the Loop, then stick around but by no means do we want you to stay if you are not interested. There's also enough negativity on social media without people telling us "we don't like what you are doing next and we are leaving" - you can just unsubscribe, or say "thanks" and leave it at that - remember the golden rule! We wish you the best
