The Isle of Wight has naturally beautiful beaches and features. You could have explored places such as the Botanical Gardens at Ventnor, Alum Bay or Steep Hill Cove. You really did not see anything during your brief visit.

@@ontheroadadventure You probably visited at the perfect time for touring on your bikes. When the school holidays kick in the Island is full to the brim with families. Defiantly come back and explore again as there is so much more than Sandown and Shanklin, which is in need of a lot of love and deserves to be brought back to former glory. Some unscrupulous landowners (not from the island) own the big abandoned buildings and have left them to literally fall apart. It's such a shame. If only they could be demolished and tided up.

There are places on the isle of wight which are truly fantastic. Stunning beaches and villages. Not too many people. A very special secret for those people who know about it. I am very happy you didn’t find any of them ! Those who know would rather keep it that way.

I've done three trips to Dorset this week. Over 1,000 miles. I used my Honda NC750X yesterday. I reset the trip before I came home and rode back "making progress". It still managed 75mpg!

Always love it when you finish the day with a big plate of camp cooking. Sausage spuds beans and gravy best comfort food ever. On a personal level I'd swap the green beans for the baked variety but still with the gravy. Keep on travelling camping cooking and making me smile.😊

A lot of the best places need walking to 😂 for starters…Ventnor to Steephill Cove. St Catherine’s Oratory. Priory Bay, Culver. Quarr Abbey, Tennyson, Totland… But on two wheels just pick all the tiniest little lanes and go down them. You’ll never get lost 😂😂

Sadly with the ferry companies charging upwards of 400 quid in the summer months to transport a car and 4 passengers to the island it will always be in decline. There is tons to see and do, all sorts of wonderful places to visit, you missed 99 per cent of them.

I’d say camping £30per night, one tank of fuel on the island will do you fine! The island is about 22 miles across. Ferry is about £30per bike each way. If you’ve not been before you should go 👍

Currently in Croatia, which is hot with an amazing coastline. Backup through Slovenia and Austria to Czech Republic before home via Germany and the Ardennes, with a certain hotel in Bastogne being our traditional last night. Some great riding, great local alcohol free beers and superb sea food. Highly recommended. Ride safe, onwards 👍

@@ontheroadadventure the Adriatic Highway is an amazing sight. But the big cities on the coast are too much for me. I like quieter, and it's less expensive inland. I think Slovenia is perhaps better riding, and of course Austria is fabulous as we all know. We usually lay over in Innsbruck for a few days. Great to loop out from. Can't pick the weather or we'd never travel. I'm addicted to big mountains. Ride safe.

Take a small G-clamp or rock/luggage strap with you for showers like that. You can then shower for as long as you like without interruption in flow.

Stayed 2 nights in Nowy Sacz, Poland recently. It was certainly different from anywhere else I’ve visited in the last 3 weeks on the road. A bit dilapidated and grey and that wasn’t just the people. Few people acknowledge you on the street. A different experience.🏍

@@ontheroadadventure It was only 2 days in & out because I was at the border. The scenery around the High Tatras mountains is fabulous whilst the standards of roads varied. Petrol readily available & generally cheaper than Uk. Never far from a Lidl supermarket with familiar foods at silly low prices. What’s not to like. Apart from the recent heatwave.About a week of mid 30c. Croc on 😎🏍

Can you get parts for them there easily? A friend of mine here had a 650 mt I believe it was and he had a couple problems with it, the last was a fuel pump went, he waited so long for the dealer to get parts to fix it that he gave up and bought a Honda cb500.

THe IOW is slowly, painfully dying on its feet, and that is exactly how the aging NIMBY population (by FAR the majority) like it. I lived and worked on the Island for a decade and now thankfully I have left it for good. Will never go back.
