Stuart Ross Even us english were celts all made up of celtic tribes...before the romans invaded
@UNORTHODOX7478 жыл бұрын
But then the romans left and we became Anglo-Saxons then Anglo-Danes and then Anglo-Normans. a lot of people misunderstand who the Normans were claiming they were simply French however the word Norman gets its name from "North men" which is heralded by the Vikings that settled in northern France and became "domesticated".

Listening to such songs and voices feels like smelling a rose after living years only seeing artificial flowers around...

I am 72 and I know and love this song.I used to sing it at least 50 years ago. I think I first heard it at the singers club in London sung by Ewan Macoll. Isobel sings it beautifully.It has made me feel sad and nostalgic. A very pure version, thank you Isobel for making an old lady happy on this wet dreary morning. Jilly Griggs

The background noise accompanies the singing so well I've listened to this song so many times and I can say it simply cannot get any better.

Not only a beautiful voice and performance but love the passion that enables her to be totally oblivious of the noisy pub background - chatter, creaky doors and all! Formidable :)

Its an old Appalachian tune. What's dope is that Appalachian music had strong Scottish and Irish roots, and Isobel has brought it full circle by singing it in the old-world style

This Isobel Anderson tune of a classic is hugely sad, yet a happy release of sadness. Her voice is conditioned to be able to do those " lilts". Kind of a half octave break while still keeping the tune.( my untutored way of describing it). Wish I had been there at this recording.

I think it would be the best if she records this in a studio with a quiet surrounding with no music whatsoever, just her voice voice alone. It's the kind of song that make people stop and listen quietly while being drown in her beautiful voice
