THe blue romans had archers at the start back in Rome 1 original. You could recruit them as any roman faction from a level 2 ranged building

Can confirm as Julii, having exactly one archer unit at the beginning that I used nearly up in one battle and couldn't replenish for 30 turns as of now lol

literally the tier 2 ranged building allows you to recruit Roman archers (or archer auxilia post-marian), you can build it in your capital on turn 1 as every faction so you can recruit/replenish archers by turn 4. Or just sail a general to crete and pick up the merc archers there, who are the best archers in the entire game.

Elephants are best when you keep them behind your lines and use them as missile troops, battering rams, and morale breakers. Charging them into battle can work, but they’re a wild card at best.

Instead of defeating the factions to unlock them, now you just need to achieve victory in one the roman campaigns and you will unlock all of the factions.

I mean all you really had to do to unlock every faction in the original was open a certain txt doc and cut and paste some names from one list to another. Easiest bit of modding ever and I say that as a man who couldn't mod to save his life.

The devs have confirmed they want to increase the faction cap, which means that, because, modders can now add more settlements and make the map larger, this game is going to become a lot chonkier in a few months

Archers were in the game. You had to build the Archery Range (upgraded Practice Range) to get them. It is Rome 2 that removed Roman Archers.

I really loved Rome and Medieval 2 TW but Empire will always be my favourite one. It was so revolutionary and so refreshing for the saga. Minor faction revenge was absolutely a needed mod.

The Remastered AI is so much more aggressive in the early game and I love it. No longer are they leaving easily conquered and prosperous rebel cities for you to steal no problem and dooming their line. Actually means the early game can be somewhat challenging as Rome

Scoping were always my favorite faction. Gains was always harsh, and Publius was always crazy. I never once saw any barbarians beat another Roman faction or conquer Rome.

i wouldn't hold your breath. there are just too many problems with the warscape engine that by the time all the major problems were ironed out they had removed naval battles, and army units couldn't decouple from their general unit on the campaign map.
