My favorite Total War game. To stop the docks from being raided, just place a single cheap unit in it regardless if its ground units or not, the enemy navy wont gonin and destroy it, just blockade it.

Just downloaded the DarthMod mod yesterday and not only did it run smoothly but DANG it was SO much fun. The real time fighting with enhanced smoke and rifle/musket sounds was the cherry on top for me.

It runs smooth for a mod to a buggy game like Empire. It is so choppy to me, and it still has the janky Dagestan Coalition, as well as the Ottoman Empire spending an eternity on its turn because it created 50 stacks of 1 units just moving back and forth in the Balkans.

Empire is unironically my favorite even though it's so bad, I really wish it was better Edit: also if you as maratha put 20 general units on a single dhow you are somehow fitting like 300 elephants in a boat that's about 12 feet long Edit 2: if you ever want to basically eliminate rebel problems then turn off taxes in every province except your capital (so rebels only spawn there), and tax the lower classes to switch to republic then immediately afterwards tax the middle classes instead to switch to constitutional monarchy. As a constitutional monarchy the lower classes don't get a happiness meter and since they're the only ones who take public order penalties from industrialization you basically never have to worry about rebellions again.

I get the feeling, horrible AI, tons of bugs, but the campaign is great. CA really needs to learn that the combat is the lesser part of TW games, it's the reason why Napoleon, which is better than empire in every way except campaign, is dead, and empire, which sucks @ everything except the campaign was one of the most played TW games in history, and some people still return to Empire, not Napoleon.

2022 Megacampaign Idea CK3- Play as Cumania, Incest-only. Eventually, change your country to a religion that makes it so you can marry your sibling. EU4- Sell off all your land in mainland Eurasia and migrate to the Phillipines. Vic2- Become a great power, but your economy must be based mostly on furniture and alcohol. Hoi4- Artillery only.

Oh, yes this was definitively the best total war game. I played SO many hours of that when I was still in school. From one ship only high sea battle to cooperative campaigns where a single turn would take so long, that one would to their turn while the other did their homework. It was just epic.

Napoleon TW and Empire were not only very fun for me, they got me to finally appreciate the bravery and tactics of soldiers in this time period in history. Before I always thought it was just a silly way to wage war. It's opened me up to so many books and movies about the era. For that I'm forever grateful.

5:45 quite easy to solve that problem. In this example you can take 2 4th rates to fight the autoresolve battle and they win with minimal losses

There used to be a multiplayer campaign for this. You might have a big enough following that you can get them to unlock it because it's quite interesting. I played it back in the day, you needed to ask them for a key and hope that they gave you.

Sending as many ships to the trading ports as I can before they’re all taken up, but that’s quite the sail from Istanbul. First turn I always remove the Barbary states as my protectorate

I haven't played most of the total war games, but empire is probably my favorite. I like the time period. I like the overall feel of the game, that it wasn't designed with DLC in mind in order to unlock the full game - it was just meant to be the full, fun experience. Hardly perfect, but good at accomplishing it's mission. I'd love to see you play out more of the actual battles, too. It's interesting to see how other people approach the same situation in different ways.

I think DarthMod drastically increases the amount of soldiers per stack of irregular/peasant units. This means, as India, you can just spam Mob units and autoresolve your way to victory! God I love this game :D

I recently started a Barbary States campaign. Spent a bunch of time appeasing other European powers for peace instead of Spain. Then I conquered Naples and Sardinia from Spain with Anatolia from Ottoman rebels. This faction didn’t have a lot of units to mess around with though.

YES. I saw the title and suspected ETW. Very underrated, easily best total war. If they just improved Empire, I'd totally buy an empire II. More optimized, some Vicky mechanics, better unit variety, full world map... All nations need to be playable. To this day, my favorite campaign is the Italian States. I just feels so unique and special.

Maratha is a snowball from hell. First it is a bit challenging but then it becomes easy mode. It is a bit sad (but makes sense I guess) that you can not recruit some super late game modern units and stick with the badly trained line infantry. At least one modern drill+gun elite army hidden behind a few extra techs would be nice.
