I didn't hear the blast at the time due to being on engine room watch onboard a Navy ship anchored off the Beirut coast but later that morning heard the news of the Marine barracks bombing on October 23, 1983. I didn't know much about the whole conflict in Lebanon at the time but heard plenty about it over the 4 decades since. Finding out that Shukr has finally paid for his involvement in the bombing gives me a tiny sense of closure for our 241 service members and the 58 French troops killed within minutes that morning. It would be amazing if all the conflict that has been going on over in that region of the world came to an end but it's been going on since before I was born in the 60s. I feel like even if I live to be 90 this will still be going on.

If they get eaten by a shark (nukes, chem war) while drowning, that would be an escalation of drowning.

Word is, the Hamas terrorist was killed by a bomb placed in the safe house two years ago, and detonated when confirmed he was in the room. So… maybe the bomb was planted 2 weeks ago, and the 2 years story was fabricated to protect means and sources. But, that it was detonated when he was known to be in the room, indicates intimate knowledge by people close to the terrorist. We may never know. Either way, it was effective.

Unfortunately I think the time for diplomacy was before October 7. Palestinians have a right to VOICE their opinion and Netanyahu has an obligation to hear them out. He also has an obligation to defend the people that elected him if adversaries are going to go way beyond “voicing” their opinions. Thanks for telling things as truthfully as you can with the information that’s out there Ward
@SpringIsBACK3 ай бұрын
The Palis have been "voicing" their opinion with so many rockets fired at Israeli civilians, going on for years BEFORE "Oct. 7", that initially on Oct. 7, most Israelis didn't think the many Hamas rockets in the air were even a big deal. This in not an all out war yet -- that will apply if Iran and its proxies start hitting Israel with thousands of rockets daily, to which Israel will obviously have to respond in a very big way. But, you are right about the many parties involved, which could spin this up into a several (or more) country war, or could involve nukes.
