G’day from a Lebanese born Australian. During the Israeli occupation my in-laws neighbours were travelling through Bhamdoun and were stopped and detained by a Phalange checkpoint. They being Druze were going to be slaughtered along with approximately 10 others. Along came an Israeli patrol, the Israeli officer asked the Phalange what was going on and the response with laughter was we have some Bulls to slaughter that being their nickname for Druze people. The Israeli officer was enraged and slapped the Phalnge leader and screamed, I am a Bull as well do you want to slaughter me as well. Both sides drew weapons and all the civilians were released and it was told to all.

So not a bad video but a few corrections: 1) IDF has admitted that their soldiers close to Shatilla and Sabra not only knew about the massacre, but some were pushing the phalangists to go back and commit more massacres. They did not report it up the chain as was IDF Protocol. 2) Begin, Sharon, and Eitan (aka Raful as he was more commonly known) were all aware of what was going on. Phalangists primary contact was Sharon so we can't really say he wasn't involved. 3) The inquiry into the massacre was limited in scope, and even they found errors on the IDF Part 4) I speak as someone who has intimate knowledge in this affair, in times of War the unspeakable happens but we need to admit mistakes and not whitewash things. Those responsible should be held to account and just because they are "Elitest" doesn't mean they should avoid prosecution.

The motivations are varied, from blaming beatings from their fathers in childhood, the effects of the brutalization of war, obedience to one's leaders, a belief that the camp women would breed future terrorists, and the idea three quarters of the residents were terrorists. He just compared the situation the Jewish mother was in and the fact that she suffocated her child because she was trying to hide and stay quiet to the countless similar situations Jewish mothers went through during the Holocaust in Poland because of the German terror apparatus. We all know Poland was under German rule and occupation back then, and Germans forced these situations, so it's not about Poland being bad per se, but about the situation being bad for Jews in Poland's territory, and situations like this happening, and they were happening, the same situations. There are countless documented stories from the WWII period in Poland, describing how Jewish mothers, hiding, killed their newborn children - by accident or on purpose, because they were trying to survive, often entire families of people were in such hiding places, and little baby crying could have revealed their hiding place to the Germans. So he compared the situations accurately, that's all. And I'm Polish from Poland, btw.

You can't really expect pulling down Sharon as some kind of a moral victory when the victims is still left behind, only surviving with the consequences of the IDF's actions. if someone tells you to wait outside while they pack their belongings to move to another flat, and maybe sometimes give you a box to carry to the car, and you help them willingly thinking that you are doing something good, but later you realise that you actually participated in burglary and helped a thief, you are still responsible for your part, you should’ve known better and your naivety doesn’t fully absolve you, but it’s light years far from the real criminal. yet, since you are the only one who is ready to take any responsibility and the real burglar outright denies everything, those who either seek to blame it on you, because they hate you anyway and are always happy to blame you basically for anything, as well as those who are too dumb or too lazy to seek real justice and are satisfied with the low hanging fruit which is again, blaming it all on the least responsible, but the most conscious party, all of these types just jolly dance around throwing rocks at you, while the real burglar walks away scot free, planning his next “project” :) nice, right?

How can any group of people claim a territory and treat the original inhabitants of that land as a subspecies to be herded around like goats, based on some ridiculous stories made up a thousand years ago? On the other hand, aren’t Western fossil fuel companies responsible for propping up the Jordanian regime that has done nothing to help against the occupation? Not enough research went into this. A lot of people might raise an eyebrow when you say something like "Israel cannot be responsible for a massacre perpetrated by Christians". It would look strange to some, Christians might actually do something like that to Muslims. What I mean by that, is that the Sabra and Shatila massacre, simply cannot be understood, without first understanding that many of the Christian perpetrators prior had family members who were massacred at Damour, like for example Elie Hobeika - whose family and his fiancée were massacred at Damour by the "Palestinians". So the Phalangists were, as they were seeing it, exacting revenge. What about "love thy enemy"? Guess it's only a guideline.

I heard that the Christians used knives in order to be silent and not arrouse the Israelis, and that the Christians killed only the young men, who had been the actual combatants of the Palestinians. @@benavraham4397 Oh ok so what you're talking about there is called a revenge killing, plain and simple. I don't care how many other massacres occoured, it doesn't justify the mass execution of refugees, and even less the aiding of that killing by a UN member state! And no, it wasn't just knives, it was guns, vehicles and other heavy weapons, the Israelis knew full well what was going on and directly facilitated the location of the camps through their recon assets. Killing young men is also common in genocides and war crimes, its what happened in both Germany and Bosnia, male civilians are killed as revenge, that doesn't justify it. The reason why Israel is hated in Lebanon isn't even because of this even, its because of the thousands of civilians they've killed through their invasions and utterly indescriminate bombings that's galvanised the population.
