Sometimes I think, wow all this American dreaming has really blindsided people collectively. Even though they used to say, never forget. We forgot and so the wolves have fooled us again. This time it feels different. It feels like a transformation is taking place and we won't see the end for a while the way they are saying things will go-them who speculate war tactics. Re "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" by Prof. Ilan Pappe as a good primer ... I have read Prof. Pappe's, book "Ten Myths About Israel," which transformed my understanding of the Israel-Palestine conflict. More recently, I completed another one of his books, "The Biggest Prison on Earth: A History of the Occupied Territories," in which Prof. Pappe uses the metaphor of the prison to elucidate how Israel has treated the Palestinians under its rule in the territories (the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza) it has illegally occupied since its pre-emptive Six-day War in 1967. Israel's strategy of de facto but not de jure annexation enabled it to circumvent international law and global censure as it stole Palestinian land, created vast new Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories and left the Palestinians in a stateless limbo. The outcome was the creation of an apartheid regime while pretending otherwise. This deception accounts for much of the duplicity Israel displays on the global stage. I would highly recommend both books.
