I SO LOVE THIS VERSION OF COURTNEY'S.... I am someone who never likes a covers version of the original song version, but in Courtney's case I like all her versions far better than the original. She is THAT good. Courtney adds her own uniqueness which seems to make the songs sound so much better. I also love her passion in every song she sings. She not only sings the songs, she feels and experiences the songs while she sings them. She will just get better as she gets older and in the meantime, I hope we see much more of her. I just love her.

Thanks, IGR. Agree that she's made for the bigger stage where she can really move and sing. But brilliant move to enclose the space and have her sing a few ballads to show off her beautiful soft voice, her goosebump-giving falsetto and a few strong rock licks, to demonstrate that, even on a ballad, she can out-sing many of the famous pop singers that make their livelihoods singing ballads. On this song, however, they've kept the smaller space, but ramped up the rock portion of the song and she's now shown that, even in a smaller room, her rock n roll voice can exhilarate listeners. Of all four of her Vevo covers, this is the one she most changed from the original. She commented in a recent article that this was her idea to completely change the song the way she sung it and this also demonstrates how creative and innovative Courtney is. Lastly, agree 100% that she has improved by leaps and bounds in the past year, or two, because she is working her butt off to succeed and she has a very good management team (ie, managers, voice coaches, family, etc.) surrounding her.

Yet another cover that to me sounds better than the original. This is a modern country pop song but Courtney rocked it as usual.

She's smart and skillful: she can stop on a dime. Most artists want to improve; they don't make excuses, they have a hard time living with themselves [and others]. I know.......I liked this song and the way she did it!

This is the last of this series of four Courtney covers and she has said that this one was her favorite. Next will be her album release (with likely several singles released earlier). As amazing as you found this performance, it would have been even more incredible to you if you were familiar with the original, which was a Country/Hip Hop song. Courtney took a hold of it and 'Courterized' it into a rock classic as only she can. Courtney has shown through her ballad days, her AGT classic rock performances and through these covers that she can sing virtually anything and be spectacular in the outcome that she produces. Great Reaction.

Hi! Courtney she's a perfectionist when it comes to singing. When it comes to the movements she certainly exercises, but much of it comes naturally. And as far as I understand, she makes the changes to cover songs herself.

One, "turns his back and throws a loud kiss blown to the public," in another video. Here, drop the microphone with an attitude like, yuck! I melted it! I'm going...! Wonderful Courtney, 14 years? And the subject is yours? WHAT ARTIST BARBARITY ...! Greetings Israeli friend, like for you, and for Courtney Hadtwin. My phrase for Diana is: "Diana is Thing of the Soul." Wait ... The original was a country/hiphop melding that was very popular and at the top of the charts for weeks. Courtney's version in my opinion and every other one I have read, improves it greatly, as she does with any cover. She can do all genre's, and I love all of them, but rock and roll is my favorite. I think you probably prefer ballads more, and I do like a mix of genres.

My take on perfection: there is none. Perhaps saying "nearly perfect" can be accurate, but it is only within the subjective opinion of an individual. When I am assessing near perfection I also consider the context of age. For 11, or 13, Courtney was nearly perfect for age, and more mature Courtney is nearly perfect for 15. But perhaps perfection is 'imperfect' as part of criteria for judging. I put more stock in the numerous unique qualities Courtney brings to the table, er, stage. And those qualities equal or exceed many entertainers in their adult prime, imo.

That was an extraordinarily long winded way of saying that you like her 😂, it was a lovely erudite comment filled with salient arguments and cogent reasoning but ultimately its matter of taste and in this case you appear to appreciate it. Just a tidbit of info. You mention whether it's Courtney who chooses what, how and when she does what she does in her songs. It's been said by Courtney herself that since she was younger doing mostly ballads, she makes her own versions of covers. This was even announced in open mic competitions she used to do at 10, 11 and 12. As for not believing in the "Not having to be being perfect " comment, I believe that's being said because if you grew up when rock was the most popular genre, anyone who was involved with making music knew rock was all about passion, electrifying an audience and feeling it when you played and recorded. You could make mistakes and cover it up without them being notice if you were experienced. Hell, sometimes those mistakes even sounded better. Once computers got involve everything changed. And to be honest about it. Most artists today aren't perfect at all. Probably none. It's all created in the editing room and presentations when in concert. Hence, lip syncing, autotune etc. Today's artist have a very hard time to move around on stage as Courtney does, like was once done to entertain an audience and sing at the same time. Even without being perfect. They're not training to do this live like it's being done in the studio. This is partly why Courtney is adored so much by older generations. Even in the 70's and 80's the rock musicians couldn't do on stage what was done in studios. Doubling or tripling guitar parts and some harmonies were hard to do on stage. But most did a good enough job without computers helping out or autotune etc. Point is perfection is not always what it seems today. It's being edited often enough to fool the audiences. Just a different perspective of an analysis mentioned here. But made from some experiences. If anyone has time. Great video to explain one of my points about perfection. Rick Beato is an accomplished classical, jazz, blues and rock teacher. Theory and playing. He and friends explain some good points. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imHclKqkf6alfrM As always enjoying your reactions. Can't wait for the next Courtney cover reaction.

Courtney chose herself. She has done singing studies, theater school, etc. and has paid for all this herself. She also writes her own lyrics. So she is now a singer songwriter. Posted her first second own song on the media 4 weeks ago (also you tube) It's a gripping song. Up to you to judge.

Yes, AJ brings production notes to rehearsals a lot of the time and has no problem correcting an orchestra, conductor, or individual musician. I don't know if Courtney does that. Her performance in Sign of the Times was chopped up and spliced. It's obvious b/c her legs would be crossed in one direction in one shot and in another shot they will be in another direction, for example. So she is also, most likely, giving input during the performance to insure that the final product is up to her standards. I don't think she has as much experience with that as AJ does but I'm pretty sure she knows what she wants and will advocate for it.

Courtney is well experienced in performing and developing her own style over the past 6 or more years. She has relentlessly pursued her dream of being a great singer by performing in many small and big venues, working to afford voice lessons and studying her craft. There is much evidence that she is the influential, moving force behind her unique song structures, voicings and performance style.
@ShanLiB5 жыл бұрын
@@rickrhoden1 Thanks for that information. I was pretty sure that was the case. It's odd (in a good way) that both of them seem so shy when not performing and yet they know what they need to do and are relentless in their development environments (studio, rehearsals, performance venues, etc.) to achieve perfection. They are so gifted and unique that they really need to be in control b/c they are so far ahead of expectations and would be stifled if they were not allowed freedom to express themselves.

She is phenomenal, all right ! Agree with you : she will be a stage animal. But think about it : the level of investment in the song she gives in studio is exceptional.What will it be in front of a crowd? I think resistance will be the key word, here. And balance. She will not be able to be at 150% on all songs, on a 2 hours show. For now, each video of hers is amazing. She recreates every cover she makes.

I agree : Courtney needs space and crowds. But I still liked this performance. About perfection, I think her style can have some imperfections but one : her lack of breath. About her age, I can't see a child anymore, in this girl. She seems very mature. Strangely, Angelina Jordan (who is however a giant by her size) always seems like a little child. Mystery !

@@oliverek7 I'm French, and in my language we call "enfants" (children) all those between 1 and 18 years old. This is the generic term. Sorry to have directly translated enfants into children. Now I understand in English it's not the same thing. About Angelina, I said she's very, very tall for her age. She's a real giant. But she retains a "childlike" behavior. But it is true they are not exactly the same age.
