Episode 63 was not filler. The three mod soul characters are leftovers from the filler arc you skipped, but they hardly ever reappear and never do anything of importance.

So about the Bount arc, to give a "brief" rundown: Bount are basically another race in the Bleach universe: they are vampire-like beings that feed off of souls and have various supernatural abilities. They were created by Soul Society scientists but were pursued by them and forced to live in the Human World. The leader, Kariya, begins rounding up all the Bounts in order to attack Soul Society, so he can get revenge. Because their spiritual pressure is hard to detect, three mod souls are introduced to help detect it: Rin, Claude and Nova. At first, the three of them challenge Ichigo and company to test them, especially because Ichigo can't use Bankai in the living world at first. But they soon ally against the Bounts, who are after Ishida. Rukia returns to help out, but she still has little power left, so she's nearly useless the whole arc. A female Bount, Yoshino, is against Kariya and company and tries to protect Ishida, who falls for her, but Kariya kills her and uses her abilities to create these bugs that suck off souls, in order to create this juice that buffs the Bount crew. Ichinose, a rebel Shinigami who wants to kill Zaraki (because he killed the previous Kenpachi, his captain) is also a part of Kariya's team. Kariya and co. get Ishida to use his Quincy abilities to open a path to the Soul Society for them. Ichigo and friends follow them to S.S., meet up with the lead scientist who created the Bount, who explains them the whole tragic past of Kariya. Kariya gets access to a mcguffin that powers him up, the Shinigami and Ishida (who got a temporary boost via a Quincy item that Nemu gives him) fight and defeat his team. Ichigo fights and defeats Kariya at the hill where Rukia was about to be executed. At the end, he reflects on the power he holds within him and how it could go berserk one day, realizing that he's not so much different from Kariya. The arc ends at the exact same place the Soul Society arc ended, so the transition was smoother (although Rin, Claude and Nova kinda become part of the regular cast from now on). The arc was a bit slow at first, but it gave some lesser characters more time to shine and the Bount were all really unique. I personally liked it, but I can imagine that it must have been hell to watch weekly when the show was coming out XD

The 3 mod souls are also the three dolls. Idk if you knew this but yeah they are all mod souls and they were used to initially help ichigo train by tricking them by kidnapping classmates. Basically they are acquaintances of Uruhara

You should just check a website like this: www.animefillerlist.com/shows/bleach to know which episodes are canon and which ones are filler, also both Naruto serieses have a shit ton of filler (around 41%) and i'm almost 100% sure you love Naruto, so don't hate on Bleach (45% of the anime is filler) just because you fucked up lol.

It's probably for the best that you skipped the filler arc, especially because this is a reaction series. However, personally, I argue that the Bount arc was very well placed filler. The time that passed between the day Rukia was taken, and the day of her execution was less than a month. And in that time Ichigo progressed an absolutely absurd amount. The Bount arc served to slow down the story and give the characters a changed to get used to their new found powers. It also makes sense that Eizen would take some time to prepare the next step of his plan. I understand skipping it, I'm just saying that it wasn't bad.
