Toyota Celica SS-I A-Class performance review:
Unfortunately the Celica is definitely a more harder car to drive compared to the Civic EK9 Type R mainly due to its instability under braking. Making use of throttle to prevent sliding will be very important in mastering the Celica. Sliding in a racing slicks FWD build costs a lot of time loss and speed. The Celica's brakes isn't the best compared to the other FWDs.
Like most FWD builds, adapting your driving style to match FWD is very important by keeping smooth lines and coast through the turns. The car will reward you from superior cornering speeds. The Celica's stock gear ratio is actually pretty good from 1st to 5th. However its 6th gear is pretty tall and can kill a lot of your acceleration during this speed/rpm range.
Obviously on shorter tracks you definitely won't be winning races due to the FWD launch. However you will have a higher chance on longer races.

So I wanted to put a comparison lap time between EK9 Civic Type R and the Celica SS-I but the video got longer than I thought. In short the EK9 is easier to drive and had better acceleration and brakes. The Celica is slightly better in the corners due to fat 265mm tires and both yield close lap times in Horizon Mexico Circuit of 1:03.9. Tried to make a B dirt tune out of this, put every upgrade on it that the game suggested, fat front tires, full earo, rollcage, stock engine, offroad tires, some engine upgrades and awd swap. It handles like a mf, insane tune to drive, but not competative on 75% of tracks

If you can, try putting the toe out (alignment) on the back of the toyota celica will decrease the amount of 'steering wheel' that you apply to make the curve (you can apply it to your set-up as it is) You can use it at the front too, but this feature eats a chunk out of the car's acceleration (compensates for much higher cornering speed) need a test to know how much it increases, because if not the car is unsteerable fits any type of car with the proper adjustments (and helps a lot) excellent direction !!

Really cool to actually see the car I own in a video game. It's a bit odd since it has a 2zz engine but behaves like a 1zz, as in, the 2zz has a crossover like VTEC, and even though it's shown in VTEC engines in Forza, it isn't shown here. It also has the gauge cluster from 1zzs, only going up to 8k when it should be 9k. Still tho, cool as hell to see it, and they even got most of the factory bodykit parts in too (that I know of anyway).

That’s cuz it’s a 1zz in game. In Japan the designation between the 1zz and 2zz Celica was SSl and SSll. For 1zz and 2zz respectively. So your not gonna hear a crossover because it’s simply not a 2ZZ

@@omarawilson2853 but it has 187hp stock and revs to over 8k. Both characteristics of the 2zz - the 1zz can only do 143Hp and around 6800rpm. (Dependant on market). As I say, it acts like a 1zz, but it has the stock power of a 2zz, so it *must* be one. Looking online though, you seem to be right about the designation of JDM Celicas - clearly the game has gotten it wrong.

I made one of these with the racing inline six and semi slick tires. It fits in A class too. Safe to say, it was pretty fast for all of the street races. It cornered, and accelerated well. It has bad lap times but it’s great for online racing.

I am having so much fun with this car in b class. Its such a dog from start, everyone passes you, but once the turns start this car has no match. Also tops out at 260km/h (downhill) so really amazing for sprints

Fwd power builds seem to have a lot of potential, possibly keeping pace with the bone shaker, but i am absolutely terrible at controlling the throttle in them (i find it much easier to control rwd power builds)

@@IsuckAtDriving Thanks for that I somehow missed it. The tune I use with Fiesta is by BIGpoppaKEKdog, it's worth a look very quick at more open circuits, sprints but requires careful throttle application or TC.

Definitely the fastest car in each race, but the slowest off the line. FWD is quick, but by time you are in 3rd gear not banging limiter you're in last with 1st place long gone. Having to fight through the field even against terrible racers is hard when they hold you back.

You need to work on your start of the race launch. Simply flooring it and granny shifting into 2nd is not the best way. Instead, stretch out 1st and 2nd ratios a bit more to make them more controllable, and of course lightly press the throttle. Once you figure out how much you need to rev out first(while breaking as little traction as possible) you can clutch kick 2nd and floor it, and get near immediate traction. Doing this makes it so you're only a few cars lengths behind the rwd guys, and it really is worth learning it in fwd cars. Also, cool video. Had no idea this car was in the game.

Do you use the colour of the braking line to decide when to stop braking or do you just play so much that you memorise optimal braking for each corner? It seems you go flat out in some red line corners but brake fully in other red line corners. Generally I'll brake until braking line goes full yellow on any corner 90 degrees or tighter but for more gentle corners I'll sometimes try to take flat out with red. I am also a member of keyboard driver club :)
