It ain't over, till its over

I wrote a song a few years back and named it, "It ain't over, till it's over". On this, the last day of this trapline, it just kept rolling around in my head. Was there another dog still out there to be caught on this program?

The Law of diminishing returns works in parallel with the 80/20 rule. You can get 80% of what you want/need for 20% of the cost and effort, that final 20% costs you 80% of the time and effort. You have to know when to move on. Great work keep, it up.

Please keep us posted on the bird. Good or bad. Saved a sparrow the other week. It was sitting in the road beside our garage, I put a cloth over him picked him and put him in the greenhouse on some cloth on polystyrene in a small food recycling bin some water and oats and a thermos full of boiling water to keep the chill off through the night. I wasn't optimistic. In the morning I opened the door and he was back on his feet on the floor which was a good sign, stepped over him gave him a nudge with a stick and off he went out the door thankfully, and as right as rain. No dingo's here in the UK but plenty of foxes! Nobody is really willing to meaningfully discuss the effects of cats on the bird population.

Really enjoy trapping Tuesday. Keep up the good work. Clark, something I thought of ages ago and have been meaning to ask you. I am a cattle producer and one thing I have always been very conscience of is when I use our working dogs (Kelpies) to bring cows and calves to the cattle yards, the dogs are tied up away from the yards as soon as the cattle are yarded and I make sure the cows don't have access to them. When tied up, dogs have got nowhere to go if a cow decides to attack, a serious attack can cause a dog serious injury or death. Its instinct for a cow to attack a dog when they have a calf at foot. Have you had a dog attacked whilst they have been caught in a trap?

Hi your right about trap lose when I was a young fellow running my rabbit trap line I'd often find traps left on fence posts in tree forks and in old warrens forgotten by trapers years before some rusted out and unusable and some OK with a bit of TLC, I always marked trees or fence posts or hung feathers in trees or bushes just as a reminder its hard to remember 50 to 100 traps and even harder to carry them when on foot
