It all came down to the price. If you didn't profit on the wars then you'd make peace. It was also a very good way to get soldiers, half a bar of latinum for each enemy soldier killed although there is no such thing as a Ferengi with a life insurance. So it was truly comical.

But most ignore that while Latinum and monetary profit is the 'main' profit, Ferengi philosophy acknowledges that anything desired to be attained, once attained, is profit. Peace is a profit. Love is a profit. Friendship, self-respect, happiness, joy in life, good company, the respect of peers and friends, sense of duty fulfilled, sense of honor fulfilled, sense of morality appeased, all of it, everything a Ferengi could ever want out of life, everything ANYONE wants out of life, is a profit to be acquired. I loved the one episode when one of the characters was talking about how all the ferengi cared about were profit. Quark put him in his place when he said at least their race didn't have as dark of a past as the human race with slavery. Difference is, the Ferengi treat their woman like a Saudi Arabian Nation, have slavers (of other species, but shush shush), and view the poor as literally not human (or Ferangi in this instance). According to one of the Rules of Acquisition, which is basically their version of sacred rules, "A Ferangi with no profit, is no Ferangi at all." Yes, really "better" than humans. Say what you will about us humans, most of what we do is either for one of three things. Pleasure, Family, Honor (or Morality). The worst deeds are usually done in the name of Honor (or morality).
