another fact related to the "language of Eden" thing king James *WASN'T* the first to try it there are records of an ancient egyptian pharaoh that tried the same method to learn the "original language" also with twins, but in a small ditch far away from the populous, with regular visits for food and drink delivery that experiment failled cuz they did develope a language, but their word for bread was the same as the "slave speak" word for it so they considered the results to be tainted

I heard about this in school! I remember some of it. I didnt know it was egyptian slave speech as I was just told the language wasn't Egyptian, (nice to know it was Egyptian, just the wrong specific Egyptian type) but the pharoh did that to prove something about the Egyptian language... It was probably slave speech because the twins actually had two maids/slaves(? I don't remember) taking care of them as toddlers/babies and it was assumed one of them spook at some point, or that probable slave traders passed by close and they heard them at one point. My teacher said it was more probable about the maid/slave(?) being the cause but she wasn't sure. The pharaoh killed the twin kids if I also remember correctly, but I could be wrong on that.

Looked this up and all I found is a claim from Herodotus that Psamtik I held this investigation. Had 2 kids (not twins) given to a Shepard to tend to their needs but never speak. He was to report the 1st word he heard them say. One child apparently said something that sounded like the Phrygian word for bread so the pharaoh assumed the Phrygians were older than the Egyptians and therefore the origins of language. This was something told to Herodotus while "visiting an Egyptian temple" of an account that happened 300 years prior. Nothing about slave's speak, no murder and nothing about the results being tainted. Many consider this and a few other historical era experiments as not likely true though.

I believe I have figured out why Halloween is the best holiday. First is the season, Fall, cool enough that we're not boiling during the day, and not cold enough for all the summer babies to complain, but still cold enough to warrant comfy hoodies. Second is the color scheme, orange black and purple, orange has the warm feel of the crinkling leaves and the black and purple open to the night sky, the mood is completely serene. Third is the joy as a child to be running around collecting candy, and the thrill in later years of visiting haunted houses, it truly is a holiday that is fun for all ages. Fourth is seeing the creativity it brings out in people. And finally, and most importantly, no one will be disappointed in you for being something other than what they expect you to be. They'll encourage it.

12:46 i know exactly where i was when i realised i wasn't straight and when i realised i wasnt cis. i remember exactly what i was doing at the time, exactly how i felt. when i move out of this town, im gonna go to the spot where i realised im queer and just. stand there for a moment. when i realised i wasn't straight (i never would settle on a label), i had the 'oh' moment as i remembered all the crushes on female friends, and paused in the middle of the street. when i realised im nonbinary (i knew that immediately, the idea that i could be a boy didn't occur to me until months later), i was crying in bed over how my body was shaped. that time i had an 'oh god' moment, more an admission than a realisation, but there was also a relief there. everything slotted into place both times, same as it does when i finally understand a concept in maths. it was almost a physical sensation in my brain, i never had an 'oh' moment with my asexuality. it was something that was obvious to me. i knew for a long time that i wasn't attracted to conventionally attractive people, and for a while i thought that was just my taste. then i never felt sexual attraction at all, and it wasn't a surprise - i barely even thought about it. i learned more about asexuality simply to understand more about different types of people, and over time i just started calling myself asexual. that was a far more natural progression, such that i barely even noticed it. i don't even know when i first said aloud that i was ace, but as i watched more videos on the subject, read more blog posts, it really just felt like i was confirming what i already knew. what i'm saying is, fics where there's an 'oh' moment and fics where they fall in love without even realising are equally good and now i know why im obsessed with them both

The only "oh" moments I had were just along the lines of, "Oh, that's a _thing?_ A _real_ thing that people are and can be? And it's not indicative of a problem? It's okay to be that amd other people can relate????" It never really was me that I had to figure out so much as it was that the stuff I was was a thing.
