It's bothering me deeply that no one is talking about the fact that they did not evacuate any of the jails and if you think back to Katrina 500 people drown in the dark with no are no food no water and the water line just went above their heads and there was nothing they could do... There are sentenced for a reason but they're not sentenced to death.

I've seen two reports today suggesting while the majority of jails/prisons evacuated a few have decided not to evacuate. I think it's probably not being talked about to avoid both controversy and becoming a target for human rights groups.

The journalists are as much the heroes out there as the first responders; all staying and risking life and limb when everyone else is leaving for safety to update us on the situation on the ground. It cannot be easy for them or their families to have them go against survival instinct and do this.

a curiosity, why does offshore seem like a centrifugal force and close to land changes to centripetal, by looking at the cloud displacement, centrifugal is when the circle turns and the mass pushes to the center, centripetal is when the center turns pushing the mass outwards, the size of the bullseye may play a role to figure the force

I am sure this is a serious storm. But she failed to explain how it feels different. From what I see, it has dangerously high winds, flying debris, tons of rain, a surge. It seems the same as all other dangerous hurricanes that have hit Florida or anywhere. Maybe she meant different for her specific city and has never had a direct hit by a cat 5 before.
