Man. I've been working in a car manufacturing factory for the last 10 years. Doing non IT related work. But have always been interested in IT. I got my comptia A+ last week and started watching Kevin's vids. I'm learning a lot. And hoping I can get a foot in the IT department at my work someday .. Yo! First off I want to thank you for the awesome vids. You do a great job walking through the IT knowledge progression step by step. During my first year on the job I’ve seemed to have learned all these things randomly while putting out fires. Definitely wish I could’ve watched these sooner! glad the video helps. If the video bothers you because of noise lips than I don't know what to say. My videos are not for everyone, it's for new techs. People get annoyed too quickly because of noises, me drinking coffee or something else. I simply ignore it because the video isn't meant for everyone. You can't satisfy everyone, people will always complain. Even if I make zero noise, people still complain.

While in a speech class in college I realized I use filler words often like “like” only after having someone point this out to me was I able to make the changes and create a more professional speech. I started watching just the other day with the mock interviews and I'm loving the content and personality. You learn to turn it around by being nice and having patience. You kill people with kindness. Usually HR would say something if someone too rude. Management might get involved too if the person rude to IT.

Going slow is fine for me. I learn a lot when the pace is slow. I absorb more and learn more. Sir why is it that my Desktop1 doesn't tell me that it's already lockout when I tried to login 3 times with a wrong password. But my active directory tells me that the username that I used to login is already lockout. I also enforced a 3 login attempts threshold in my group policy management. How do I fix it?

Question: in this video you enabled an administrator account. Is that totally necessary considering the first account on a PC or VM is given the admin role? Making the "User" profile an admin. Also you said you wanted one admin account for the whole domain which makes all the sense. But why wouldnt that account be the "Helpdesk" account since its already created and has the admin role?

Are you referring to the windows 10 account? It really depends on the company. Some companies create a 2nd account that has admin rights to login and some companies have 1 centralized admin account. If your referring to the server, its totally different.

you make it whatever you want, I use this as static ip because I don't have a cisco router at home. It has to be in the same subnet range as the server. If you watch the first few videos you would understand why I use that ip address.

Hey Kev hope you are doing well I’ve been following the videos up until and now everything is running smooth, but all of a sudden on my “Windows 10 Lab” when I try to access Active Directory Users and Computers it gives me an error saying “Activer Directory Domain Services, Naming information can’t be located for the following reason: the server is not operational” sorry for the issue but what can I do to fix this?

Server needs to be on to use active directory. You can't run windows 10 without the server vm being on.

Hey Kev, I did all the other Server/AD stuff & the Technical Exam, but for some reason my Macbook is now taking "22 days" to download the ISO for Windows 10 (so I haven't been able to join to domain yet) .. but I never had this problem when putting Server onto VirtualBox, what could be the issue ?

That's your network, check your network settings or isp. It should only take a few minutes to download.

Memory issue. On my first video on this, I talked about the hardware specs. If you don't have those requirements mentioned in part1.. you can't run the labs.

Hey Kev, having a odd thing happening currently with lab. I can ping the server from both vm pc’s but can ping the pc’s from the server. All ip info is correct and all are using host-only adapter. Any ideas?

can be many reasons why it's doing this. pc fell off the domain, ip address not talking to dns or something else.

Some how an apipa address got loaded onto the adapter in virtualbox. Weird. Fixed that and the firewall was blocking the pings on the other pc. Pings work! 😃🤟🏻
