It feels like moving into a new house, and moving in all over again. The renovation is finally over and it's time to decorate the brand new space. I buy the biggest essential items for the new space and get going on all of my design ideas. I hope that you enjoy watching me unpack my stuff and have fun decorating and enjoying my roof windows.

Elise - a little advice from a professional furniture painter... If you do paint the bench, be sure to use a shellac-based primer first. Knotty pine is a huge bleeder. You'll have brown circles everywhere there's a knothole if you don't. Water-based primers don't work as well as shellac. There are a lot of nay sayers in the comments, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. 🧡

I rarely read other comments unless there's a lot of likes -- such as this one. Otherwise it would be a full-time job defending this sweet, intelligent girl from all the jealousy in the comment section. It's mystifying that people feel the need to behave so small-mindedly. I hope Elise doesn't read them either. She's a grown ass woman living her own life and she's had quite the journey. Good advice on the primer. I wish my mother would take that advice because it would save me a lot of work afterwards.😅

Bang on about the shellac base. I used the wrong base 25+ years ago on some shelving. Several paint colours later and the knots still show.

I think the big mirror would look good on the wall behind the olive tree. Hanging crossway, for maximum impact. The sunlight would bounce off the mirror throughout the whole space , plus the reflection of the garden in it would be breathtaking.

One thing I enjoy most about your videos, Elise, is watching your taste and style evolve. Over the years, I have seen your home go from very young bohemian to sophisticated, and classic, yet the bohemian is still present in little touches. I admit to being a bit shocked when you showed us your new table and bench, but I have learned to trust your vision and while I don't always see where you're going I always love what you achieve when you arrive. I cannot wait to see how you put your "new" dining room together, no doubt with perfect Elise-flare. Brava, Elise! Brava!

The easiest method I’ve found is to place a paper towel on a baking sheet lined with tin foil, place object on….in this case…candle holder upside down for wax to run out, place in very LOW heated oven. Wax will melt into paper towel which you can toss, or keep as fire starter. Wipe object clean with paper towel. Easy peasy, and you can do multiple objects at once.

Change is good. I have owned eight houses and my decor changes with the houses. I know I take down what some people think looks good. Elise you are quite amazing in all things you tackle and I’m very proud of you as if you were my daughter. You’re brave in your color choices and I have no doubt your dining area will be beautiful when you finally decide on the right color for the bench. The olive tree is lovely and the thrift store pieces are so lovely. That vase with the beautiful colors was nice and would go with your color scheme. The painting is fresh, the candle sticks I would have purchased too. You have beautiful taste. This is your home, you do what you want to do and don’t let negative or others opinions detract from your visions for what you want to do. The nice thing about thrift shopping is that if something doesn’t work out or you get tired of an item, you can always sell or donate it back and get something different. Enjoy your weekend and also relax too. You deserve a moment of being still. Peace and love to you Elise ❤❤❤.

First the corner bench seemed quite small, but then the olive tree appeared and I remembered that you have a vision and that it will work in the end. Please don't let anyone tell you what to do or not to do with your home. You live there every day, it's supposed to be your comfort zone. And honestly, if you end up not liking something (eg. the colour) then, well, change it again. Lots of hugs.

Hey Elise, I don't get why people get so upset over your corner bench. I cannot wait to see how your dining area turns out, and how it might evolve over time. One thought that came to my mind while watching was that the scale/proportions seem a little off. I wondered how the space would feel if you placed the corner bench a bit off the wall. So that you can walk around it. A big rug might balance out the zones of the living room, too. Anyhow, just my inital thoughts. Agree, it reminds me of a restaurant. At this point I am not a fan, but we'll see! One thing I've always loved is when a dining table has wingback chairs at the ends and/or a settee instead of a bench (or banquette). The settee acts as a banquette. Of course it's not for everyone, not for people w small kids and the settee must be the right height and width. My own dining area is sadly too small to do this.

I was really disappointed (shocked, actually - sorry!) when I saw that table. I think if you can afford it, a table of better quality would be the right move.

The table can be the same with work…paint, cushions, decor touches on and around the bench….just wait…..👍❤

@@hospitalfood6621 Yes, but you have to have something basic to work with. And It's not that table.

I reckon a good paint and a rug underneath it to bring it some warmth, a table cloth that matches her aesthetic would go well, some pictures on the wall it will come together

The corner bench has picnic table vibes. Knotty pine is a beast to paint but I appreciate your confidence in transforming it into something lovely. I hope it works out.

Absolutely love the bench! Beautiful piece of furniture you found and the storage is wonderful!!!! Makes the room feel so cozy and with the gorgeous olive tree too!!! You are SUCH an inspirational young woman. You have worked SO extremely hard and should be SO proud. I love how big and open the room is now with the bench in the corner and the sitting chairs are an amazing idea to make that room a double purpose room now. I definitely trust your process, Elise. You are my favorite youtuber. You are the most hard working and inspirational content maker and I have been a huge fan of yours for years. I love the gorgeous dresses I ordered from you and I keep the little Bohemian Wonders card that came in the meticulously packed box on my fridge. You do you, Elise! Remember, it's you who has done all of this work and who has gotten the huge following that you have! Nobody else but you. Continue to trust your instincts. I am so proud of you. Seeing people's negative comments after you've worked yourself half to death made me so mad. Xoxoxo Sending love and good wishes your way from Canada. Take care.

I LOVE the olive tree!! it transforms your space into something truly special, emphasizes the lovely window and beams you worked so hard on. Love the corner bench too. Terra cotta is also my favorite colour range palette :) along with greens.

Your dining room vision is very intriguing! I can't see it yet, but I do like your cocktail space. This was a nice video because you have such pretty things and it's fun to see your arrangements. That poor plant on your mantle! I hope she's happier now!
