I can definitely relate with the tractor problems right now haha. I’d love to have a hay unroller on my truck!!

Awesome video I like that bale bed ..I like the way you feed gives the newborn calf's and young calf's a dry warm place to lay ..

Yes that’s another benefit I didn’t mention. When the weather is gross the calves can snuggle up and stay warm!

Put them on right way, they unroll better!! Cut edge facing toward pickup!!
@FarmandHammer
@FarmandHammer 4 жыл бұрын
Yes that is always what try to do, but as you saw from the video, all of our hay is in rows and 4 feet apart so you can only pick up the bales from one side. We also have most of the hay delivered and they don’t always set them down the right way in the field. And I only cut the edge toward the pickup if there isn’t another bale on. I’ve seen the bale on the truck get rolled into the one I’m cutting too often to want to stand in between them. But your are right, it is easier to get the netting off that way.

If it's a new john deere 7r its probably the internals on the zf transmissions toasted. Same thing happened to my uncle, pushed some manure, next time he went to use it had the same thing as you did

It is a newer 6115. Found out some little piece just broke but no major transmission damage. Still an expensive fix though!

Is it a 6.2l ford? What do you think of the power? And what year is it?
@jonpbarker
@jonpbarker 4 жыл бұрын
I have that same feed truck with 6.2....got 82,000 miles. Power is good...pulls trailers on short distances. Mine is 2012 and only problem I have had is a left cracked manifold and a front right wheel bearing.

Your farm has so.much potential. Maybe your dads not on board with intensive rotational grazing and grass fed and finished beef that's where you get top dollar. Your a hard worker you should be getting paid right.
@FarmandHammer
@FarmandHammer 4 жыл бұрын
We do rotationally graze though it may not be considered intensive. We have about 32 pastures that are a little less than 10 acres a piece that we rotate this group of cows through during the year. They stay on a paddock for about 3-4 days and are then moved. We ran out of grass about a week ago so now we just feed hay on the pastures and give them access to a few fields at a time. All of our cow calf pairs are not fed any grain. The only time calves are fed grain is if we precondition them after weaning. We are trying to move more towards intensive grazing but we have so much permanent infrastructure it is getting tough to split some fields into smaller pastures. Thanks!

That part I understand if you have alot of stemie stalky hay that doesn't have much protein and nutrients in it, then that part is understandable, but now if it was more leavie and tender stuff then putting it in feeders you ain't waste a's much of the good stuff then feeding it on the ground or you make them clean it up pretty good. But if that's your way of feeding right now, that's understandable thero too. But inerways good work.👍 and good video.
