There is a new attraction Melaka which is known as "Coach Airways". A B747 plane was converted into a Coach boutique and it comes with cafe inside. This Coach Airways is located in Freeport A Famosa outlet.

Dairy is actually big in Malaysia. Malaysians do consume a lot of milk and milk products such as yogurts. The selection of these items are dependent on the supermarket / hypermarket you go to. Beef products are also quite extensively available because those who don't consume them are a small group, i.e Hindus and Buddhists. Again selections are depending on which outlet you go to. Most locals in KL don't shop for grocery at the grocers at the big malls. Jaya Grocers & Village Grocers are catered to a niche group of the populations. They carry a lot of imported items. Most locals shop at places like Giant, Mydin, Aeon, Hero and so on. So if you are on a budget try these. It's always best to ask a local in the area where they shop. Try the local wet market experience. Vegetables and meat products are normally cheaper there

@@HarryAndHocking Wonderful. I used to drink Nescafe 3in1 a lot coz Nescafe has lots of variations, but lately I also like Indocafe black coffee 2in1, sometimes I also like to try few new brands like Macino n French Roast, they r quite good too. If u like 3in1 tea, Lipton n Boh r quite nice but d Sabah 3in1 tea is really good. 😄

Giant Supermarket is ceased from business in Melaka. Probably Econsave is a good place to go or Family Store(more outlets here). Pricing is more or less the same. Usually will get better pricing on vegetables and meats (all fresh products). Food slightly cheaper than KL by 15-20% but not nicer or yummy than KL. KL and Penang are always best on the food category, even other states were better than Melaka in terms of good food. Pasar Pagi, Pasar malam or Pasar besar are those best places to shop for fresh vegetables and meats across Malaysia but none air conditioning. Professional services are only so so here - salon, car workshop, renovation services and etc. Mainly due to lack of competition and attitude - WAY TOO LAY BACK. After all, Melaka is a place for retirement just like Perth, Australia or Brain Tree, UK. - Local

I'm getting PTSD flashback to me getting hair cut in Melaka, in a supposedly good professional salon, complete with director's fee, only to cry myself to sleep due to how ugly it is 🤣 I asked for side bang btw, but the moron "director" gave me almost blunt bang, which makes me look some kind of "special" due to my round face. Took way too many liberty with his "styling" even when i already expressly mentioned what did i want. When i went to correct it to a different salon weeks later, they were surprised since that salon was supposedly a very good one. You are unfortunately very spot on with your review 🤣

I won’t stay in malacca for a month tbh. Maybe go to Penang? Or try life in Selangor (outside of KL). Perhaps Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya etc. It is well connected to KL, so it’s easy to commute. Another option is Sarawak/Sabah. But it’s gonna be more towards nature, hiking and a lot of driving!

@@HarryAndHocking For starters, usually I recommend the typical in Uptown PJ, the restaurants I list below are nearby. 1. Village Park Nasi Lemak. Hipsters say it's overrated, maybe it is because it's always crowded and slightly expensive, but the rice and fried chicken are one of my favourites! 2. Inside Ipoh. Very hearty chicken broth flat noodles. In Chinese, we call it "kai si hor fun". Order the drink called "Cham Ice" - a mixture of coffee and tea. You can order that drink anywhere though. My favourite. 3. Annie 1. Wonton noodles with BBQ pork. Not the best, but it's very convenient as they always (usually) have stock. Unlike hawker stores, you gotta get there early before selling out. 4. Starling Mall itself. There are many, many eateries. The top floor has a food court. My usual go-to's are Uncle Soon friend rice and LFC (not Liverpool, Lim Fried Chicken). These two are franchised, so you can find these somewhere else! In the mall, you can find nandos, ramen, etc., if you want a break from Malaysian. 5. Cor Blimey! British Fish & Chips. Personally, not a fan lol, but just want to point out in case you're feeling homesick + wish to compare what you have back home. 6. Aftermeal Desserts. This is so good but always crowded. Pick a weekday except Friday to go.

Anything imported from the west is going to be a lot more expensive. Dairy is not as big a food source outside of Europe and other western nations settled by Europeans. You have your Indo-European ancestors to thank for that and the genetic mutation they passed down that provides lactose tolerance into adulthood that is missing from most of the rest of the world population.
