Painting with only Poscas is a heckuva challenge. I'm usually amazed by your ability to color first and ink afterwards, but Poscas cover up the pencil lines, too, so seeing you do it this time is even more impressive. I really like your cats and mushrooms and witches, but it was also cool to see you doing doggos and froggos, too. Next year you need to have a Halloween costume for Sally. Cats love that.

i love those stadtler mars lumograph pencils! they don't have any of the shininess of normal graphite but it is just as easy to work with.

If nobody has yet commented about this hack: you can pump a posca marker into a watercolour palette until you have some paint and you can use it as a normal paint/watercolour paint/whatever for details

Molotow has a similar product, it's called one4all professional sketchpad/book. It has special coated sheets that prevents the paper from being chewed up. I've found it's not the initial smoothness of paper that's the issue with paintmarkers, but rather how smooth it stays after being introduced to liquids and then agitated with a hard nib. Which is something not a lot of papers put up with. You can sort of make this yourself by coating a paper with a thin layer of acrylic ink or similar, I use a Liquitex wide marker, which when dried completely makes a waterproof layer that the nib glides over rather than chew up. Molotow also makes paintmarkers that are pretty much the same as Poscas but theirs are refillable and have more replacement nibs. Things you can do if your paintmarker lays down streaky: Shake it more. I don't know why but darker colors seem to have pigments that needs more blending than lighter ones. Another thing is to soften the nib by pressing down slightly sideways on the nib a few times, rotating it between presses to loosen up the nib fibers. This increases paint flow.

If you're having trouble with a scratchy nib, you can take it out and flip it around so the more saturated side is out. Or you can put down some paint by pumping, get a brush, and fill it in with that.

that paper reminds me of bristol paper! I should try my poscas on that paper. I know I used cardstock before, a great, affordable alternative, but for anyone using a different paper, I learned that gessoing a piece of paper, even cardstock, before going in with posca, helps immensely! This box was fun, I haven't done the challenge for it, I got distracted and ended up using them for the prompt 'Radio' in one of the October drawing challenges and drawing a Jukebox and diner. The colours are gorgeous though, reminded me of ice cream 😂 I would love to have a huge collection of Poscas but they are so expensive, I have a set that has the generic rainbow colours (with light and dark greens and blues) as well as a beige, grey, brown, black and white. It also came with a silver and gold metallic Posca marker. That was super expensive though for that small set. I'm gradually increasing my collection a colour at a time now 😂 I loved your wizard frog! He is an awesome character and it was nice to see you break out of your comfort zone a bit with some different animals. Did you find any inspiration from going through your old art that is maybe something completely different to what you create now? Perhaps it would be fun to revisit something like that?
