Watching all those people learn to build was so cool! "It's just like Legos"! Love it, keep up the great work
@erichildreth75623 жыл бұрын
That was really cool that you had a motor available for people to see, take apart and put back together at this show!! This something that is rarely ever shown to anyone and from what I have been hearing hear in my local area (Central Ohio) hardly anyone is interested in working on any sort of motors or anything that has to do with mechanical stuff. My MX helmet is off to you sir for doing this! I am a self taught mechanic and to see this is great!! Can't wait to see the RM all back together!! Thanks for sharing! :)
@BlazedAFGaming3 жыл бұрын
Similar in the UK most mechanics would rather fit a new/secondhand engine than actually work on one, especially bottom end build requiring split cases. Or if you do find one they’ll charge you more than the cost of an engine lol! They seem to just want to do the easy basic maintenance shit and charge you £45-60 an hour depending on garage or main dealer
@erichildreth75623 жыл бұрын
@@BlazedAFGaming I understand and I am self taught, I have been working on my own motors like this since early teens, I do motor work for personal and I work on my own suspension.
@BlazedAFGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@erichildreth7562 cool man props to you, if it saves you money and helps you stay on the road and safe.. plus learning that’s what it’s all about. I’m also of that bracket - self taught got fed up with being ripped off and often having other problems occur from mechanics work. I’m now at the stage I can do everything but bottom end engine work. I plan to stripped an old 2 stroke engine soon and teach myself. With all the info and content creators who cover this it’s much easier than it was growing up in the 90’s
@erichildreth75623 жыл бұрын
@@BlazedAFGaming that is great to hear that you are going to work on an old 2 stroke motor, they are easier than you think and take your time, no need to rush it and I was taught back in the early 80's from a Kawasaki owners manual, Clymer manual and my Dad helped out in the beginning. It is rewarding to know that you can fix it yourself and not have to br overcharged and suffer from someone else's mechanical mistake.
@BlazedAFGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@erichildreth7562 indeed I agree having the time and not rushing also not needing the vehicle as a necessity for commuting to work changes the learning environment greatly. I often just took it to a mechanic so I could be sure it would be fixed by a given time without risk of being unable to do something etc. So I purchased another 4stroke bike to take that pressure away and it’s paid for itself in saving me from years of garage fees. But yeah I can’t wait to strip the 2 stroke as it was my first ever bike I owned and never sold it a full restoration project will be rewarding like you say to know you’ve fixed something and learnt something yourself without having to pay over the odds to someone else. I would have loved for my dad to help me with mechanics but he was useless in that regard haha. And reading manuals seemed daunting as a kid, also having the correct tools for a job is a major factor in ones success. So invested in myself and tools to achieve that. Anyway thanks for the convo and have a great day bud.

I've see a bracket used for rear brake master mounting. The bracket would connect to your existing frame holes and provide mounting point for the master, with a custom bracket you can use any brake master and create and position, be sure that you clear the swing arm through its full swing action.

I have shot a caliper piston into my finger *_so damn hard before_* , ouch! 😂 If you guys plan to re-use your old piston(s) - you can place a piece of carboard in the caliper much like a brake pad before the piston ejects. It'll save the piston from possible damage if you plan to re-use it. Or it'll keep you from being a jackass *_like me_* and crushing your finger as the compressed air blasts the piston out!!
