Welcome to the Nordics, our summers are weird, but we're used to it, taking a walk in the rain while it's close to 30C is actually weirdly nice. What's not nice though is high temperatures, as everything's built to withstand cold, so there's no AC or anything, only time I've had a car with AC was a Buick from 1980. :P

You could have a water tank on each side with a balance pipe between that can be closed when driving to avoid sloshing to one side. A solenoid valve can automate that, so when ignition on the connection is closed and when parked open. Or old school manual valve if that's too complex.

In about 5-7 years of time when our children grow to the age when daddy and mommy won't be the best company anymore, we will have an expedition rig as well. I came across the Pingzauer few days ago, have you discovered it also? Similar size than the Volvo, it had 4x4 and 6x6 layout (independent portal axles and torsion free tube chassis), and it had various configs, soft top troop carrier, hardtop, pickup, ambulance, radio.

Really nice to see the progress you guys are doing on this vehicle! Seats look amazing and gives it a whole new look! Not sure if you are doing any driving yet on public roads (more then back and forward to the get it road worthy) but if you do you will need to make sure it is "Påställd" meaning that it is registered as a vehicle that is ok to drive on public roads and that also looks after so that the insurance is valid for driving. I can see in the app "Mina fordon" that it is currently "Avställd" meaning it is not ok to drive on the roads and if police stop you, you will get a hefty fine as it is not "in traffic" and also not insured for more then sitting in the garage at the moment. Björn, or someone, should be able to help you out with this, it is easily done in the app but I think there is only a Swedish version so you will need help I believe. As it is a vintage vehicle (more then 30 years old) you don't pay any road taxes for it even when it is set as permitted for driving in traffic so there's no cost.
@TheOutFit3 ай бұрын
Oh thanks Goran for letting us know, we are learning everyday! What is the app you are mentioning?
@goranfardigh86473 ай бұрын
@@TheOutFit @TheOutFit No problem, love to travel myself so know what it means to learn how things work in different parts of the world! Owned a couple of cars in Australia to travel around a few years back. The app is called "Mina fordon" but I realized now that you will need a log in through a system that you won’t have as you need a Swedish social security number for that… It is also possible to do this online, see link below, but the part of the process with notification also only seems to be available in Swedish for some stupid reason... You need the registration papers to set this up. You will also need an insurance of course, which I'm sure you already have, and when the vehicle is notified as "in use" the insurance company will automatically be informed so no need to contact them separately. I'm sure someone can help you out with this. Hope this helps you! If not let me know as I will pass by Malmö later tonight with my camper on my way to Spain By the way your camper is ok to use in traffic, so you are all good there!

How about converting the steering to electric servo steering? Not to complicated, I have done that on my RV using a Toyota Corolla unit with steering wheel adjustment. The electric steering works in Fail-Safe mode if the steering control unit (ECU) is disconnected from CAN BUS. Using the Corolla steering wheel I now have a smaller steering wheel and also radio buttons in the wheel and modern turn and light switches in the column. There is a lot of information a the net how to do it and what to parts to use.
