Parrots are LOUD folks,
I get asked CONSTANTLY, "how do you put up with the yelling and the screaming and the tantrums?!"
My answer is, "The same way a loving mother "puts up with" a screaming, yelling, tantrum throwing toddler..."
It's the same concept lol although a Parrot scream can be ALOT louder than a toddler scream it's just something they do.
I don't "put up with it" I chose this when I adopted parrots.
THIS is who they are... loud, wild, and crazy beings at times.

This tantrum throwing, loud, yelling, dramatic behavior is COMMON in parrots. ESPECIALLY in cockatoos. He's not in distress.
Most of you know that he (and Letty) have free roam of the house when we're home and in the same room (we don't let them wander off by themselves for the same reason you wouldn't let a toddler be alone 😉, trouble makers lol) so he can come down (and does come down) whenever he wants to lol.
But like I've said many times, adopting a parrot is like adopting a toddler, they throw tantrums just like toddlers do.
So if you think you're ready to take care of a toddler that can live 80+ years, then you might be ready to adopt a parrot. 💜

DO YOUR RESEARCH before adopting a bird. They are a LIFETIME COMMITMENT!
I cannot stress enough how heartbreaking this sad truth is.... Too many people impulse buy parrots because of cute or funny traits they'vet seen in other birds.
A life stuck in a cage is cruel and so unfair to these magnificent beautiful creatures.
They deserve the absolute best!
If you are interested in a parrot, adopt one because you have the time, money, patience, energy and if you want to save them from a life stuck behind bars, not solely because they are cute or funny or talk etc.
Again parrots are a LIFETIME commitment.
They can live up to 80+ years!!
Which means they just might outlive you, and where will they go if something happens to you and one day you don't come home?? What will happen to them?? Who will love them and care for them as you have?? Will people know that there's an animal at your home that needs looking after?? All things to consider....
I've given up many many things to give my two parrots and other animals the best life they can possibly have!
It is an honor to share our lives with these amazing creatures, remember that....
Please do your research before adopting.
After all, we have our friends, our jobs, and our hobbies.
They only have us💗❗️❗️

Susan Darby he’s not mimicking my son here 😊 my son wasn’t born yet when this video was recorded and uploaded and thankfully even now my son does not throw these kind of tantrums lol. Not yet anyways. This behavior could have come from a previous home he was rescued from OR its very possible it’s not mimick behavior at all. Cockatoos have very high tendency to come up with their very our antics and sounds they make and ways of doing things that are all their own 😊. It is why each one has such unique and individual personality.

longtail4711- for some reason they don't do it at night though... they hate sleeping in their cage at night so that end up sleeping in my room and I make sure to keep like for purchase in my room at all times because they don't go in anyone else's room except for mine... all I have to do is move their cages and here and they would literally move into my bedroom

I'm not laughing at all, but crying for the poor woman who has to live with such a pretty, but very LOUD bird....and when you said children of 5 years of age, remember they said "children should be seen and not heard." So for this poor bird, I would say, even more so, even though I have liked birds for years, when they came yearly to nest outside and looked after themselves. We had the same lovely mourning doves, each year for several years unless I guess they died as suddenly they did not return.

For people who still don’t understand just how loud these birds can get: my first job in high school was at a local pet store that specialized in exotic birds. I had to work in a small upstairs room where we kept boarders and the large birds that people kept dumping on us (they would seriously just dump a carrier with an angry macaw or cockatoo on our doorstep like we were some kind of animal shelter and not a BUSINESS). After my first four hour shift there, I noticed that I was getting incredibly dizzy and nauseous. I was getting ear damage from how loud the birds were, and that was damaging my balance (resulting in dizziness and nausea). I ended up borrowing a pair of ear protection from a friend that went to gun tournaments: they were designed to cut out the sound above a certain decibel level so I could still hear people talking to me but wouldn’t get ear damage while cleaning cages.

All parrots have the capacity to be "loud", statistically speaking. Cockatoos and macaws are dangerously loud on a regular basis. They will absolutely damage your hearing. My buddy's cockatoo will literally make my ears ring if it's in a loud mood, not even a bad mood!
