Ex Panther Front Office Employee here. That stadium is a cesspool of ego and horrible leadership. They don't value anything but dollars and cents. I've met and interacted with Tepper. If something doesn't equal $$ to him, he won't do it. He never interacted with employees and him and his wife walked around expecting you to worship them. They've created a horrible culture and now a horrible franchise. It will be hard to get players and coaches to come play for this owner moving forward. He knows nothing about football. Once sat in a meeting where he asked what the difference between a "cornerback" and a "defensive back" was. smh

Panther fan here; CJ Stroud checked all the boxes for a Frank Reich QB, we knew all that but the Teppers (the wife is WAY too involved in the team) fell in love with Bryce as a dinner guest. Further, in an alt universe there exists a Panthers team w Dalton at QB, DJ Moore and Thielen at WR, D'Onta Forman and Jahmyr Gibbs at RB.

The thing that should be worrisome to Carolina Panthers fans about David Tepper is that his actions may be by design. Since Tepper bought the team, the speculation has been that he wants to relocate the Panthers. A lot of his antics come across that he is burning bridges with the Charlotte community to where people are no longer interested in the team, and then he can get the other owners to side with him on moving the team.

The issue with moving the team is that there aren’t really any great options for where to go when compared to Charlotte. Charlotte is the 15th largest city in the country and pulls fans from two states who combined would be the 5th largest state in the nation and the largest with only 1 team. The Panthers inability to attract fans is not a market issue, it’s a marketing and product issue. Additionally, there isn’t a city to go to that has a larger potential fan base where the team wouldn’t be the lil bro in the region. Where would he relocate to? Oakland? Portland? Austin? San Antonio?

Almost all of his moves have burned community support in the Charlotte area - the training camp talks with York County, S.C., the failed center deal with the Eastland Mall property in Charlotte, the constant turnover with the head coaches, now he has moved the training camp out of Spartanburg, S.C. The moves seem to be by design to erode the fan base. Not to mention, Tepper has been making some noise about a new football stadium in the future. I believe he wants fan and community support to be low to the point that he demands a stadium and can justify moving the Panthers.

This situation with Bryce Young reminds me of another QB named Young - Steve Young. He started his NFL career on a horrible Tampa team and was 3-16 as a starter. And he had already been in the USFL, so he was something like 26 years old. Bill Walsh traded for him, and he didn't become the starter in San Francisco until he was 30. Good thing he didn't play in this era, everybody would have declared he was finished after a dozen games.

If its true that the owner forced their QB pick of Bryce Young over CJ Stroud then nobody would want that job. The only reason i can see anyone taking this job is for a quivk money grab thats all. No oyher reason to go.

This is just like Jerry Jones and Dallas (and I am a Cowboys fan). The word is out now, and people are seeing how involved he is. The ONLY thing keeping Jerry is the past (which Jimmy Johnson won), the marketing dollars, and he keeps the name in the media, like ESPN and Stephen A. Smith (who has received Jerry’s blessing to play the bad guy and talk bad about them to rally all others that do not like the Cowboys). Otherwise the media would talk bad about Jerry’s control and not winning a Super Bowl for 30 years.

I don't think you were off on that, Stroud would look no better than Young with the O lline and lack of weapons. Anyone remember Laurence and his first year with Jacksonville, he looked horrible too but it was the team he was on and they have improved by adding other pieces

I don't think he's that good of a coach myself, but the Panther's are simply a trainwreck from top to bottom, starting with the owner. Even great coaches would probably fail there with all of the meddling Tepper gets up to.

That's my argument as well. I'm tired of fans judging players and coaches as if it's all equal. Some owners stick their nose out of it, others have some, others have too much input. Reich has won in the NFL, which is a lot more than you can say for David Tepper. Only the Jets have a worse winning percentage than the Panthers in the 5+ seasons Tepper has owned the team. He is the common denominator.
