That last scene where Georgie got beat is Tony expressing his hatred for his mother. If you notice Georgie says "Is that an operator or an answering machine?" It reminds Tony of what his mother said earlier in the episode where she confused the answering machine for an operator.

The actor who plays Silv, actually went to the casting for the Tony Soprano character, he started doing those Godfather interpretations and the writter David Chase absolutely loved it so he wrote the character of Silv. And the woman who plays Silv's wife is actually his wife in real life.

I love Paulie, absolutely. He actually was a mob member in his youth, when he was in jail he went to one of those jail projects and started to acting, he fell in love with it. Altough, from all characters Paulie is the one who is playing himself, his character literally is everything that he was. In real life he was extremely similar to his character. RIP Tony Sirico

Yeeah what makes The Sopranos different is.. its not so much a mob or gangster show at all. Its a character study and a family drama that just happens to be focused on characters in the mob. We look forward to more reactions 😁 really enjoying all your guys commentary, esp tryna understand the intent behind each scene and shot.

I feel like you guys are talking over, and therefore missing, a lot of the show's dialogue and little nuances and stuff. There are even parts where I can hear full-on conversations going on in the show being talked over by your guys' own conversations and analysis. Hope that can be worked on for future episodes (maybe pause the show?). Thanks for keeping it going with the show. Can't wait for ep. 3.

Agreed. Some shows, it doesnt matter, half the dialogue is throwaway lines and it doesnt make a difference if u miss them. BUT Sopranos is well-written and the dialogue is important, even the little lines can have a lot of meaning. Im not saying for you guys not to talk like you do! Just maybe time it better, and/or pause the show to talk more :)

When I first watched this, I interpreted Tony’s anxiety about the lack of control as a commentary about societal anxiety. The year 2000 was approaching and technology was starting to infiltrate their lives. You see that with how they’re trying to work out the answering machine. And it’s about a changing of the ways. The idea of “classics” is being erased with modernity. It’s also shown with the mention that the mob isn’t it what is used to be. And that’s all compounded by Tony being Middle aged. It’s like the life template he was using wasn’t fitting his situation anymore. His mother’s declining health is another metaphor for the waning of the old ways.

This is my favorite show pf all time. I was fortunate enough to watch it when it came put and I was hooked from the start. I always tell people its not a mob show, its really a show about a guy with the same issues that a lot of us deal with, he just happens to be in the mob. It really shows you that even the tough guys deal with the same shit the rest of us deal with.

I think Tony's sensitivity towards animals is a defense mechanism his psyche uses to shield him from the fact that he lacks empathy for other human beings, thats he has sociopathic tendencies. Animals also cannot plot against you, they can not rat you out, animals kept as pets are there to obey us and love us; two things Tony desires more than anything.

Many people including actual fbi agents as well as wiretaps of the real New Jersey Mob Family have accredited the sopranos show for how authentic it is to the real world modern day Mafia. I always thought that realism added to how good this show is.

Interesting watching along with you guys. Just one problem though... like so many 'reactors' you've got the target video volume tooooo low. i.e. your sound balance needs adjusted. If I turn up the volume to hear the target video, then you lot come over as boomingly loud. If you can get your sound sorted, I'll give you a subscription. [One other point... a lot of other Soprano 'reactors' do two episodes at a time. Ever considered that? At one-a-week it'll take nearly a couple of years to get through the lot. Just an observation].

Again, agreed- and its not so much "dont talk", just pick when you talk, how long ect, a little more carefully, because youre talking over important lines/scenes. Its a reaction vid absolutely-but that doesnt mean chatter over whole scenes. You gotta be more precise with it. Just watch the show, be aware of when its dead space & u can talk, and when its dialogue and you should watch & listen :)
