I've always been a fan of his artwork for the SNK games. Always wanted to draw and detail characters like that. They all have this photographic Vogue quality to them.

I used to feel a bit awkward by his pieces mixing such fantastic characters with real life details, but over the time he's become one of my favorite FGC artists. Truly master of his craft

I love his art so much. When I was about 7 years old, I use to scroll through the gallery of King of fighters games. His art always had me thinking like these characters are real and have their own lifes outside the games.

Bought a copy of a very nice "Art of SNK" picture book at an anime store in the mall when I was maybe 8-10; around 2001. I was infatuated with it, as far as how just unique it is, in the same way Berserk comes off, just immediate, or as you said in the video, how a Franzetta immetiately is known without a second thought. With the SNK aspect, these were characters you wanted to imitate, the way the bodies utilized light and especially that of health. Take his beach setting ones, personality is everywhere, but these bodies are absolutely proportional and greek in a way other games and media were not. Still my favorite visual out of gaming

Shinkiro's style always reminded me of Alphonse Mucha-particularly his use of heavy outlines juxtaposed against soft/warm shading. His work is inspirational and truly iconic for fans of the franchises. My favorite illustrator by far.

Growing up with the Neo Geo and SNK in general Shinkiro is all i ever see in my mind when I think of characters like Haohmaru, Terry, Kyo, Geese, Mai etc he defined that system, games and characters in my mind...great video! Side note the 2 bodyguards with Geese are Ripper & Hopper :)

My favorite work from him its in the nest saga, just like you said with the 98 cover, you can feel the engines of the city, i think many of his work feel like that, and thats why i like what he did in kof 99 and 2000 so much, you can feel the freezing metal as well as the heat from the engines, he drawed k with this orange that you always get that feelin, that he was a stone cold robot, but someon who has a good heart. Honestly i think his artstyle works so much better with cyberpunk or just anything that is dystopian and has cool machines

Shinkiro, the man who made the face of SNK. And one of the artists I call master out of inspiration and admiration. I decided to give it a rewatch after the SF6 illustrations he made for Terry, so beautiful. I remember the first time I saw his artwork, it was for KOF 2000, the Hero team of Vanessa, Ramón, K' and Maxima. It was the first time I saw his work, as any mexican who grew up during these three decades, my first contact with SNK was KOF 2002 (Ironic given that he didn't work in that one, 2000 is my favorite along with 98' anyway) and Metal Slug. Years later, it is imposible for me to distance SNK from Shinkiro's work, even if the last time he did something inside SNK was 24 years ago. houndreds of illustrations for SNK, Robot Army, Mutation Nation, Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, KOF, Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug are the ones I can name from the tip of my tongue. Every now and then I go looking into my folders full of his works to inspire me. And I'm doing the same giving this one a rewatch with a Shinkiro Smile™

This is the EXACT opposite of what was taught to me in Sambo. Never loo at their eyes, look at their hips. THEY are looking at your eyes to see where you're coming from next, but any sort of attack stems from the hips, be it a punch, or a kick.

Hey, do you have plans to make more art analysis in the future? I really like when you cover fighting game artists!
@TheCellarTaigenMoon4 ай бұрын
If there's an artist I feel a connection to, I will; I don't want it to become a case of me looking for subjects I don't really care about just because I feel obligated to make art analysis videos. These were really fun to make though, so I've been considering who else I'd want to cover
