DARK FACT: This is the last time we ever see Bruce Mathis because the actor Stephen Collins who played him was forced to retire, his career ended after he confessed to sexual misconduct against multiple minors. In a December 2014 interview with People, Collins admitted that he committed "inappropriate sexual conduct with three female minors" in 1973, 1982, and 1994. Though he was publicly blacklisted for his crimes, Stephen Collins managed to escape any criminal charges of child molestation. Due to the statute of limitations in New York, the NYPD was unable to criminally prosecute Collins following their investigation into the allegations and confessions. That's a pretty thin line to draw in the sand tbh. You must not be used to looking at the evil in people. If I had to cut myself off from any form of entertainment that had evil people working on it, I wouldn't be able to enjoy anything. I love how it’s impossible to know what the plot is going to be just from the title card. Who could guess that their mom dying would lead to: A. Mac and Dennis realize they have no other friends, inadvertently advertise a gay orgy, and kidnap and torture two college kids. B. Frank and Dee almost have sex and marry each other to convince the man who screwed their ex-wife/mom to give them money. C. Charlie finds Dee’s middle school diary but he’s illiterate, so he gets a random telenovela thief to dramatically read it to him and they weep in each other’s arms.

While Bruce ain’t wrong about the gang, remember that he still didn’t raise them when he could and tricked a man into raising his children. That, and he left a terrible woman to raise his children, so in a way, Bruce isn’t exactly an angel either. You could also interpret his philanthropy as a way to try to compensate for his own misdeeds as well.
