What we need to do is go back to the good old days when everyone cooked at home, grew at home, milked the cow in the backyard at home, and used their own livestock and poultry. No fast food outlets, no fancy restaurants or supermarkets. Fresh from the the back yard or the farmers. Farmers markets, where we can trade our produce and stock up on what we need. No wastage no plastics no traffic jams. Each town needs to start acting on this and get all the locals to take part in producing locally and taking care of their own communities, You dont need acres of land, even a box would do under a window in your home.
