I feel theres so much to improve (obviously) and that excites me. Currently we could do with more movement (ability to crouch/sit for example) and ofc further advance the design to make movement feel more natural and less exhausting to endure (it appears to be moreso then regular walking anyways, this is pure speculation) but as this becomes more advanced and more commercially available, VR will become a healthier way (physically) to play games and it will not only just be immersive but it will be life changing. I truly am excited for the future of VR and where technology will take us.

they won't do it, but If they are able to pull off decent modding in unreal engine then the fans will do it. As a UE4 dev though, I don't have very high hopes for mod-ability in the new elder scrolls. They're going to be forced into a very limited way of doing so.

Yanno what I take back what I said because I have a feeling it's going to have a mod tool in the epic launcher. The problem with this is you can't jump around, so you can't really dance much either. And just laying or sitting down or crouching. It would also occlude the full body trackers. So not worth it overall for something like VRChat, but in itself I love that it's possible.
@caseydia3957

Yeah I feel like it's better for immersion in games then socializing it's actually sort of limiting. Another thing I realized is, if you're strapped into a harness to a machine, what's the point of room scale tracking? I guess there is none but until treadmills come out I would really miss normally walking over somewhere and reaching over to look at something you know like it's different then seeing something a few feet away and then sliding over to it to see it

The problem crouching lower, is the risks of bumping into the machine if you actually fall. I guess that's the reason why this design is the way it is, to prioritize safety. Don't worry that'll never happen. Just like no major game requires a 1000$+ tower PC - you can always lower settings and usually even play on a laptop. I can see some games implementing exclusive modes (or at least lobbys) for that to equal the playing field, but not more.

I think I know the PERFECT thing that would make it work for anyone; a harness and a harness tripod. They're used for getting trained on harnesses, I know because I've been trained on harnesses before. It's a big tripod, hook it up to your D-ring on your back, and you can experience what it's like to hang from a harness as the tripod supports your weight. So hook up the tripod so that it's essentially holding you to the point that if you completely go limp and you let your legs buckle, you will only drop by a couple inches or so. Between the point of connection with the tripod and the point of connection with the KatWalk contraption, I believe you can get very good stability. Maybe even hook up the tripod so that you're ALMOST already suspended, although then you would be prevented from being able to crouch I think. If you want to be able to crouch, extend the chain or tether or whatever of the tripod so that if you went limp, you'd be as low as the contraption would allow you so that ideally your dead weight goes on the tripod instead of the $1500 machine. Damn, makes me wish I had a couple thousand dollars or so to invest in this equipment so that I could safely use this stuff as my SUPER fun work-out equipment with minimal risk of causing damage to the KatWalk. www.3mcanada.ca/3M/en_CA/p/d/v000358357/ Something like this could POSSIBLY do the trick, though depending on your height it may or may not work. If you need it to be taller, you may have to also invest in some small slabs of lumber to put under the legs, but just be sure to put safety first. Harnesses can be dangerous if not used properly... primarily with men... make sure your leg straps are fitting properly. You should have them tight enough to where you can only fit one hand between your thigh and the strap. If you can't, it might be too tight. If you can manage two hands, it might be too loose... I digress. I am steadily developing thoughts, ideas, and aspirations to make my VR experience more immersive. Also planning to develop some sort of equipment that can duplicate the handling of a firearm. Shit... I might even be able to patent something if I do it properly... I know a lot about weapons handling.

If you’re thinking about getting one of these, here’s a couple of things to consider (copy pasted from a question I answered on Reddit) I actually own the kat walk C, it’s pretty cool but it definitely has some major drawbacks. (Snagged one early through Kickstarter if anyone was wondering) If you have never tried anything like these then I would attempt to go to some place that offers them so that you can get a feel for it. You don’t really walk but more slide your way into the direction you want to go, I’ve found that if you adjust it correctly you can actually crouch although it’s obvious that it wasn’t built specifically with that motion mind. The “vr treadmills” of today also take up quite a bit of space, although it’s not a TON (especially the kat walk c which I would say is on the small- medium size) the thing weighs a TON so once you’ve built it you probably won’t be moving it, keep that in mind. I unfortunately don’t have a pulley system because I have a fan and with the way my room is built it’d be difficult and etc etc. I’m just saying that I don’t have a pulley system so I don’t know how it will interact with the treadmill, if you just turn a couple times in place without being on the treadmill the results shouldn’t be all that different. Also (great transition I know), the thing can get pretty loud depending on how fast you walk/run so of course, keep that in mind. Alright, I think I’ve properly defaced this thing (and I have no problem with continuing to do so if you have any questions) but it’d probably be good to end on a lighter note. If you really want the most immersion possible and you’re willing to go through the process of “relearning to walk”, then I’d say go for it. It really just depends on you, I know some people that have tried it and don’t want to touch it ever again. I know some people that have tried it and are begging me to let them get on it again. Watch reviews, look into pricing, and size availability, if after all that you still want it then I see no reason why you shouldn’t make the plunge, I did. Lastly, why do you want a treadmill? I completely understand the need for increased immersion, but things like bhaptics are, at least in my opinion, the much better route to go. Seeing as how they’re cheaper, generally more immersive, and take up way less space. Ok, I think… that’s everything. I know I really beat into the thing but I don’t want you to dive right in and then end up hating it. I enjoy the thing, I don’t use it every time but I’ll use it occasionally and I don’t regret my purchase. If you have any questions feel free to ask, hopefully I’ll see you some time in the virtual void.

@@ProbablyAEuropean if the tread mill was like 5x bigger you can realistically crawl and stuff as well with the safety strap connected from like the roof or something(cause you cant crawl with the treadmill in the vid as the strap won't let you get on the ground, and the treadmill isn't really a treadmill cause it is not what tracking your movements(the stuff on the shoe is, the treadmill just letting you move easily) Also I have a question if you had a full body suit like in ready player one why would you even need a treadmill wont the sensors on the suit be good enough for you walking/running in place
FINALLY! The NEWEST VR Omni-Directional Treadmill is HERE!
