Chris sounds like you have the patience of a saint. I was really glad to find your channel. I first learnt about you I think 2001 you and Levi Leipheimer had just rode away from the Pelton at the Amgen Tour of CA. That was the first race I'd ever watched have been hooked every since. Love how you break down each race and the knucklehead award is wonderful. Thanks for the laughs.

Man, no wonder vintage MX racing is so popular, no sensors. And I grin but honestly, Chris, all these problems would count me out of the game. What happened to the simplicity of it all, when mixing oil and gas was about the biggest calculation for a dirt bike rider. Or doing a little porting and installing aftermarket parts to really improve performance. And the magazines had all the how-to tips and that was great. And so were the prices for used bikes in the Seventies. I paid $200 for a '73 250 Maico in '76 when I was an American teen in West Germany. It was a special moment in time, in retrospect.

Geez. What a nightmare. We have 4 2020/21’s XC/XCW’s and only had problems with a 150XCW. It took a while to get the mapping right, which was very frustrating, but now it’s good. All 4 TPI bikes run incredibly well and are a blast to ride. We have some carb bikes and I’d much rather be on a TPI. But when they are off, they are off! Best of luck!

Something being thrown together is the term Running Rich, loading up etc. Absolutely nothing to do with Air/Fuel, it's the oil injection going crazy asf randomly. Our 2021 TE250i ran amazing for about 4hrs then fouled plugs during warm up. Didn't touch the throttle, we know on a TPI bike during warm up that's a big no no. Head has to reach 70f for second map to activate, you'll hear it change. Basically a choke setting when ambient temperature is below 70f. My son doesn't live with me and kinda kept it from me his bike wasn't running. He didn't know of the 30 day factory warranty. Anyways a year later dad finally gets to see his bike. 6hrs ? Da fuq kid ? He said it keeps stalling, runs like crap I messed it up adjusting the pilot screw ( KTM calls it a idle screw, it's not a idle it's the pilot screw ) anyways I went back to stock settings. Still ran like crap. Replaced the plug, runs like crap. Only from idle to 1/8th throttle mind you. Everywhere else it runs great !! Replaced both sensors, ambient and crankcase. Runs a tad better, not much but a little. Did the Slavens idle screw mod, runs better but not great. Taking it in for the 103 Extreme map to get flashed on the stock ecu. I know a few other giys with same bike, none had this issue so it is completely random and not normal. Even with the issues, you still want a KTM bike. They're that good !!

I guess I'll hold on to my 2005 200EXC for a while longer... With a Lectron it runs like a top at all temps and altitudes, and the KYB fork swap was well worth the effort. The new ones are enticing but they still seem to need so much work to be really right.

I heard that the TPI bike has a rich map until warmed up good. My bike sure acts like it. Some Duct tape on the radiators seems to help the bike run better in those 45 f and lower days for me.

Interesting. My 2021 250 xc , that I bought in Medford Oregon , has only had one problem. The problem was a broken wire by the headset that goes to the start button. I think that it is my fault because I put on a headlight and changed the way the wires were routed up there . The wires are tiny and will break if they bend too much. I replaced the wire with a heavier gauge and routed it better.

I am glad that got it running. You know i got my new YZ and they put in 16 to 1 for break in and iI was trying to tell them that that is not good! But they said the factory says to run 16 to 1. So I waent out and ran it for 30 minutes And went in for the night. So I wake up and get ready to go for a ride and it will not start so I called them and told them that will not start due to the 16 to 1. So I drained all the gas out and put in 32 to 1 and it took a while to clean the carb out but then it started. So now the dealer says they will never do that again..And had to give them a I told ya so about running 16 to one is not good..! Happy again.

Chris, first I amazed how well you ride, balancing like that on rocks. You’d probably make a good trials rider. Maybe another type bike to try some day? Could you post pictures in your next video of the area of the bike where they repaired the sealing, or where the sensor is close up, so we can understand better what you are talking about?

Wire from the cylinder? You mean the vacuum hose from the cylinder to the crank pressure sensor? I have 2021 Erzberg that runs like shit too...I just got it and so far I swapped the sensors, swapped new plugs, swapped pipe and like you state still runs like a slimy turd. Can you explain what the did to fix this better? I think is doing the same shit....thanks man.
