I'm not a pilot. 12-12-22, 1pm CST. I looked outside my window and saw clouds. It's been cloudy here in Chicago for almost a week now. In checking the weather map I saw cloud cover in the US was everywhere except the southwestern states, Kentucky, Tennessee and parts of North and South Carolina. Days like today, I really wish I were a big jet pilot. I'd see clear skies and the sun above the clouds as opposed seeing days of nothing but fog and clouds. Thanks so much for your videos and again, congrats on making Captain.

I did read an article about 3 weeks ago that SW wanted to increase the number of flights by about 5%, they did provide the number of captains they would need to add for that to happen and the number in the right seat. I think the goal was for next summer season.

Ern, if you want some fun cold weather flying, Syracuse, NY has everything a pilot could wish for in the winter - cold, wind, and lots of lake effect snow (off Lake Ontario). Southwest has three flights daily between SYR and BWI so you could add that winter wonderland to your schedule. Having grown up there (but now living in Dallas) my father used to joke Syracuse enjoys four seasons too.....aka June, July, August, and Winter! Love your videos my friend!

It was always “my time” during these months. The farm gets quiet, and my fellow aviators were allergic to extreme weather and short runways, so I could fly all I wanted. The trips were there. I know it could attract people we don’t want to highlight this, but I managed 2 full time careers, and when I was still in the active reserves, it was more like 2 and 3/4 full time careers. As I grew older, my military duties ended, so I could pace myself, and when the big five 0 came, the farm had hit a level that I don’t need to do anything else. Which was good. I’d gotten to the point where I was tired all the time. Not good with aviation, but also not good for me. Aviation is such an amazing option. I didn’t have 6 figures wrapped up in getting qualified to be an airline pilot. I’m really hoping the 225 program gives others the chance to get the same opportunities I had without having to go the military route. Military is awesome too, but a mix of backgrounds is healthy.

I am a long-time subscriber and really enjoy watching your videos. I am myself a professional mariner officer but had some flying lessons way back when in a Cessna 172. Did not got further than 16 hours of flying. I might pursue it again when I retire. Just a quick question: on some KZbin flying channels, filming on the flightdeck is allowed during flight. Is it your company policy of not being able to film during flight or is this not allowed on all US airlines? This particular video I watched on KZbin was on Finnair, flying the polar route from Tokyo to Helsinki. Again, above US airspace, the camera was turned off, so I suspect it is a US policy? Can you fill me in on this? Thanks.
