Not a smart business move at all, since you depreciate that and a full-size truck at the same rate, and at the end, have less of an asset to sell off. I'll edit this because there are many that don't understand the math. Full-size trucks are worth more at their end of depreciation than compacts, so you sell that depreciated asset off at a higher price. There will be no difference in non-deductible ancillary costs during the life of ownership that will not be overcome with the final capital sale of the vehicle.
@wildbill23c3 жыл бұрын
@@MikeF055 Have you seen what Ford Rangers and similar trucks are selling for now? A few years ago you could pickup a Ranger, S10, etc. for less than $1000, just about scrap, now if you find a $1,000 compact pickup it should be in the scrap yard...$4k for a beat up, really beat up 2wd compact pickup now...and if you want one that's gonna last ya several years you are paying 1/2 of what it cost new 10-15 years ago. Yeah, a full size truck might sound cool, but many don't need one, and the used market for them is as bad as the compacts right now. So it really depends on the buyer and what they need/want. Many hunters want the little trucks because they're small enough to get down the trails for relatively cheap compared to an ATV or UTV.

@Stay at Home Dad - depends on the dealer and the equipment she buys. If you order it from Ford through some dealers (Long Mc Arthur in rural KS, with a substantial YT presence, is one of them, but there are others as well) you may get the one YOU want WITHOUT ADM AT MSRP (the best you can hope for, as dealer stock has LOTS OF ADM FAT on them). If you keep it as a FWD with the 2.5L Hybrid it can get as low as in the U$23-24K range OTD for a "steelie" XL. One many would like (an XLT FWD Hybrid with medium equipment) can go below U$28K OTD that way.... That's still way below the U$41K AVERAGE (fat included) transaction price for all new vehicles.
@syxepop3 жыл бұрын
Try ORDERING it from Ford from a dealer such as I mention below on this thread or others in or out of state, that promise to sell Mavericks AT MSRP (do your homework on the Net). Equip it as you like and you may get a nice surprise on the price (don't expect deals on units already on stock units at almost any dealer). Remember that hybrids were not delivered to dealers on initial launch and that the T-2.0L adds U$1100 and AWD adds a total of U$2300, as the Turbo is required for AWD (the towing package goes on top of AWD prices).

Along with Andre's comparison of the various versions of the Maverick about a month ago, this is one of the most insightful review of the pickup I've watched (tho' Nathan was wrong about the eCVT - no belts). Nathan's observations about the bed's accessibility and the ease of reach over the side walls were the features that convinced me to order a Maverick; it will be my first truck ever. I only wish it was available now as either a plug-in hybrid or full battery electric.

One of the most interesting TFL reviews lately! This little "truck-lite" ticks a lot of the right boxes for a lot of people, like a new millenium version of my dearly departed 1989 Mazda B2200 which I loved. That MPG on the climb was amazing, and the FWD didn't prove to be much problem at all until that last 2 seconds of the vid pulling out of the snow. I would worry about grip if I lived in the snow belt, but that is what the AWD 2.0 version is for. Anywhere else, this little thing would be great 90% or more of the year for light duty service.

I think your videos on trucks are great. I do have one recommendation I think would be a good addition to your testing programs. I own a full size truck and personally towing, payload, handling under load are all applicable tests for a truck. However 0 - 60 is useless to me since a truck I fell should be rated on it's capabilities as a truck not racing. 1 second faster or slower is of no consequence. My recommendation is to have braking tests. How well does a vehicle stop when empty,loaded , towing and towing while carrying a full load. This is directly related to the safety of a vehicle and should be tested in the real world.
@TheDaniel93 жыл бұрын
11:09 Oh my goodness you did my test! I'm on the shorter side and I have stayed away from buying a truck for this very reason. If I have a tool in my bed, I don't want to have to climb in to get it. Some trucks have the bed walls come up above my shoulders. Nothing is going in or out of those except by climbing in.

Just throwing this out there for the uninformed, this is NOT a traditional CVT. There are no belts, clutches, or wear parts of any kind in this transmission. It is entirely gear driven, with every gear in mesh all the time, even in park. It's one of the most unkillable transmissions ever designed. In a nutshell, there are two electric motors. One is used to control engine RPM, by varying its own RPM (similar to a differential), as well as start the engine and generate electricity. The other is directly connected to the axle, and is used for regen braking, EV driving, and reverse. It's also mated to one of the most reliable engines ever made. The Ford 2.5 isn't all that outstanding in terms of power, but they tend to run forever, rivaling even the venerable Ford 300 I6 in terms of durability.

They even put them in tractors cuz they were soo tough.. .. I dont see too many 2.5s in tractors. Not saying the 2.5 is a bad motor. But naw it hasnt earned the nod from the 300 i6 or even the 7.3 n/a diesel. Not even close

@@seanbutler2291 I've owned and had plenty of experience with both, and my experience directly mirrors any data I've found. Most recent for me are a '96 F-150 300 with 190K miles, a 2009 Escape hybrid with 150K miles, and a 2010 Fusion hybrid with 210K miles. I do tow trailers with the Fusion (2Klbs) and Escape (3Klbs). 300 I6 engines can and do easily top 500K miles, but they do have minor issues that usually need to be addressed by then. The phenolic timing gears are known to crack, fuel rails can overheat, distributors have minor issues, etc. Few and far between, but they do exist. 2.5 Duratecs are also known to top 500K miles, especially in taxi service. Most cars that have them end up being junked because the chassis or transmission goes bad, with the engine still running perfectly. They have their issues too, but nothing major. Things like throttle body motors, engine mounts, etc. Also very minor.

It was sitting on uneven ground the average between the two sides was about an inch. So in other words the other side was squatted 1.5 inches and the side he showed was squatted about half an inch. @jameswitte56763 жыл бұрын
No. 1,500 is your max payload. If your towing 2,000 pounds, that puts about 200 pounds on your hitch. That leaves you 1,300 pounds from which you must deduct your weight and the weight of your passengers. Then there is GVWR - gross vehicle weight rating. This is the max allowed weight for the vehicle, passengers, cargo and trailer. The GVWR will probably prevent you from maxing out your payload AND towing capacities at the same time. I don’t see a listing for the Maverick’s GVWR by Ford.
