I think this move was originally shot in 3-D, which is why you get all of those "coming at ya!" effects directly toward the camera.

This movie, I'll agree, is bad. However, same one I learned of this movie from, guy named Brandon Tenold, I also learned of another King Kong ripoff, that is so bad, it makes this look like a masterpiece of great cinema by comparison. A movie known as Queen Kong.

8:42 Interesting thing about scale; the original *KING KONG* from 1933 actually intentionally changes the scale halfway through the movie. During the first half, when he's on the island, Kong is about 70 feet tall. In the second half, once he's in New York, he's about 26 feet tall. (Thus symbolizing him losing his power once he's in New York).

I'm not sure about "unreasonably". Brandon Tenfold (also on KZbin) reckoned it was the worst film he'd ever reviewed, and he absolutely loathed it. There seems to be something about this film that just gets under people's skin! I'm almost tempted to watch it, to find out for myself...

As an aside, I wonder if the constant 'things flying directly into camera' was because maybe they initially were going to have the film be shot in 3D but the lack of budget meant they had to scrap that idea before filming wrapped ? I have no idea if that's the case, just trying tgo wrap my head around the constant 'into the camera' shots lol

Some mockbusters can be better than the original. I watched the War of the Worlds mockbuster, and found it better than the Tom Cruise vehicle which came out around the same time. It was closer to the book too.

The scene at 4:40 is something the director was experimenting with..some of his fellow director friends even called it "new and innovating"..im not even joking either...this seen was actually one of his favorites but he should have experimented with it more and it would have looked better..idk..just a little fun fact for you fans out there. 👍 *SIDENOTE* - If it was me directing this movie I would have cut the scene to the army guy jumping out of the moving truck just in time before the 4×4 impaled him..they let the shot run to long so you see the 4x4 actually stop and then vibrate..lol
