To add to the comment made by a viewer Troy about you staying put and enjoying it. After I have read the comments that some people leave I really don't think they have an idea as to the size of Australia a lot of people who live and sail in Europe and some parts of the USA. A friendly port is a matter of 20 miles away where as you said you have to look at your options in a week in advance world due to the shear size and isolation of the coast you are exploring and I am sure I speak for a lot of your viewer I find this amazing and love the way you both cope with it

Maybe one day when Troy is stuck inside he can give the audience an explanation of how performance yachts can sail faster than the wind is blowing, or so I've heard. I thought that others who aren't boaties might be interested. Great to see the healthy environments, critters and colours. Thanks for the videos.

I see you are flying the blade on the inner stay - how about a Vlog on the sails/standing rigging and if you are still happy with all the many choices you made when the loft was fabricating. How about the sun shades and the main stacker? Is the Muir a good winch for you. Is three braid rode better for you than eight plait? is the Rocna the current best choice, what about the others such as the Mantus of the Spade? I saw a nice Pearson 33 what had a short strut in the bow to fly a reacher or zero. Is a chute still your choice? How about the solar panel choices - how many watts fits you best right now? Would you use the same water maker or buy the parts and assemble your own? If the outboard dies for good, what would be your next choice since the two strokes are not really available world wide? Thanks for the techy stuff you post. Bob in Nevada

Apologies for asking for the vessel spelling twice...Also thanks for the windlass hack with the plasticine, awesome ! I am the proud owner of an Austral 30, and I reckon the spectra and dyneema are the way to go as well. I hope to catch up some day out there, Cheers, Gazza. Yes, especially on the WA coast with its limited refuges and vast distances between them. North QLD is much easier, despite cyclones with plenty of easy day sails between islands and nice reef anchorages.

I'm always astonished at how unprepared and unplanned folks leave the dock. I never sail my little skiff on our lakes with less than two days of provisions for two people. Weather blows up here with regularity in the afternoon from a variety of directions. Pretty common for me to beach on a lee shore and set up a mini camp and there'll be a boat twice the size anchored almost out of beverage of any kind and completely out of food. It's a wonder there aren't more tragedies and I'm damned glad they aren't on the ocean.

It all seems a bit suspicious. Troy is complaining about Pascal raiding his whisky 🥃 supply and then the camera pans across and Pascal is crawling out from underneath the table with some story about how it takes two days to make a cake 🎂. Seems a bit suss to me. Great video 📹 and you're staysail looks great.

@@FreeRangeLiving She does have the character and Grace to not let it (resentment, etc) show. As we say up here, "she's good people". . And obviously, I don't have all of the information. However, your claiming justification for the nearly yearlong refit, for the passage across the Bight, doesn't 'hold much water' with the audience, pardon the pun. The criticism is valid. Nobody spends most of a year on a refit for a follow-up useage of just a few months. Sorry if you don't like the criticism. . Having said that, challenging you, I still say, I very much appreciate your travels and videos. But you've left your audience hanging, new bigger boat for global trips, or it's sell off and over? All the best to you. . Cheers.
@FreeRangeLiving
@FreeRangeLiving 2 жыл бұрын
@@lokirenoir6413 Pascale here. We enjoyed the refit. Mirrool needed it badly and now she won't need a major rebuild for another 50 years. To save an old boat that would've headed towards ruin makes us feel so wonderful. We love this boat. I love looking around at the custom wooden interior we built from scratch. She 100% needed a new rig and sails for Bass Strait and Bight Crossing. She also needed it for our southerly beat down the WA coast last year. Seeing her perform so well under sail with the upgrades has brought us a lot of joy. We've spent a year on her now since we completed the refit. Whatever our plans after Mirrool we will continue making the videos and we hope most of you will all continue to join us for the ride.

That was great. That coral in the beach swim looked more like the full healthy coral i remember from my youth in New Guinea. A lot of the coral we sea in videos is quite beaten up. Hanging out for some sea horse footage. The heading out footage in the big waves was fun. I’m watching this on my new 48” oled display on the saloon fwd bulkhead, and it really comes to life on the big screen with totally natural color. I recommend this for your new bigger boat should you get one. Great video, thanks again!

Chicks are real bed heads, I've never lived or slept with one yet who loves to get up before sunrise and greet the morn. I remember in my younger days I was having a dalliance with a somewhat spoilt girl, the daughter of a wealthy doting father. Her number one (and only) rule for me was to never expect her to get out of bed before 10 am. Short of the house on fire, and it better be seriously on fire she said

Aye...super important point right off the bat at 3:00 for those not familiar with long term live-a-board life. You have to be constantly aware of weather, wind, waves, and tides, and sometimes need to move often to seek shelter or at least find ideal conditions for dropping the hook. Marina life and homestead life are much different in that regard, eh?
