Ford is doing with the Lariat what Ram did to the Laramie, and got them into serious trouble. Whats the point of a mid trim if youre charging Platinum and damn near Limited prices? Ford will still sell trucks, but not at the same clip that they have. Our large volume dealer here has THREE F450s for sale right now, and a slew of Platinums. Yes, trade-ins have taken a dump, for a number of reasons JB mentioned but another thing: BUYING OVER MSRP! We knew this would happen. Guys paying $110-120K for 23 F250 Platinums and will be upside down for quite some time, plus unable to carry forward negative equity. And that is happening virtually on any vehicle that was bought over MSRP within the last 2 years. This is less about a recession, and more about normalcy returning and the market self-correcting. You can only have $2000 truck notes for so long.

Maybe. Or they will just limit production and lay people off. The cost of components has increased. They can't build the truck for the same cost as pre-pandemic. So if the market dies because people can't afford them then they will just shift their focus to F150 or Ranger and put more of those on the lots and those that need a super duty for work are going to have to pay up. We've already seen the self correcting market back when the large SUV craze crashed when the cost of fuel doubled. Then people moved to compact cars and eventually crossovers as the mpg's increased and gas came down in price.

I'd rather put my own "bells and whistles" on the truck. I believe I'm not alone in this respect. These up-trimmed trucks are just too expensive. Then, throw in 6.7/6.7HO diesel! Sheesh! Last July, I received my special ordered '23 F250 XLT SuperCab short bed 7.3L/3.73. I paid $55K and perfectly happy with it. Yes, it's cloth interior, analog gauges, 40-20-40 front bench, 8" screen, but that's how I like them. I've added Line-X, BaKFlip, Yoko 35's, Xenon-Pro LED's, Gatorback mudguards, Bilstein shocks to name a few personal upgrades. The truck is still nowhere near those $90-100K thresholds.

Very few folks, if any, can afford these trucks at these asking prices. At $100,000.00, you are looking at $1500-$2,000.00 per month payments. I'll just hang onto my 2002 Ford F350 XLT 7.3L Power Stroke Crew Cab with only 38,548 miles on it. It cost me $36,200.00 back in 2002 and has lots and lots of miles left to give me. I forgot to mention,my brother bought a new 22 4wd Quad cab Lariat 7.3 gasser to pull his camper.His truck listed around $80k.Last month with 30,000 or so miles,Ford put a new engine in due to an engine tick they could not diagnose.

Bought one like 3 months ago, paid cash. They are not desperate to sell. 35k for a brand new 96 f-350 vs 80k for f250 2024 and has twice the torque, twice the amenities. When you compare the 2 I think the 2024 is a better deal.

I bought a 2022 F250 Lariat UP Tremor 7.3 for significant less than prices here. Even if I opted for the 6.7 at the time, would be a good bit less expensive.

I paid 70k for my loaded brand new Chevy 3500 duramax. A comparable F350 was 85-90k I’ve typically purchased ford but it’s far too expensive for what you get.

I have a 2014 F350 4 door 8 foot bed. I bought it used for 20k. Has a 6.7 and alot of power. My next truck will be a 2017 ultimate.

Trade in value does have something to do with the slow up forsure on selling new vehicles. But what I have noticed is like a month or 2 back there was a switch flipped and was flipped to the off position and companies that I never thought would be hurting our. It's crazy scary right now. This will be the great reset for car companies as well as a majority of us

2004 F350 XLT four door dually long bed diesel. 100% stock, original 6.0, 260,000 miles. Just spent 8k to fix some issues and replace exhaust manifolds. Used for heavy towing only. My other truck is a 2005 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 hemi, 165,000 miles. NEVER would I pay the price they want for a new truck today. Far cheaper to fix what I have and doesn't have all the modern BS on them.

People can say Chevy is cheap or the "economy" brand of trucks, but I just got a '24 gas 2500HD High Country for $68,000 out the door. That's plenty nice enough for any truck I'll ever want to drive.

Why would you drive a shitty truck around? That’s low class thinking. Wealthy people drive luxury cars / SUVs.

Cost. And that’s coming from an owner of a 23’. They should try no charge for the diesel promo like Ram and might sell a few more.

Had a Ford F-350 was looking for another but they’ve priced themselves out of contention. I’d take the Chevy regular cab with 8ft bed better price nicer ride

I'm looking for an F350 Lariat. A dealership near me has one that fits my spec and color. They aren't ready to deal yet. Too funny! They can keep it.

This is good news to me. As a glacier grey leveled on foxes 24' f250 high out put Ford warn wrench packaged nitto rolling owner. I feel like i'm flexing that much harder when I hardly see any of them on the road. 🎉😂

Price. They think they can get MSRP. Even 30% off MSRP is overpriced.

Im shopping for a new HD truck. Between GM, Ford and Ram. Ford is the one with prices still above msrp. And Rams Im seeing some about $10k below msrp.

As a contractor here in Colorado, I see hourly guys parked 3 deep on the job site in fresh 3/4 ton trucks. They never haul more than a toolbox or 4 wheeler. . These are are status symbols for some groups Period, they are willing to buy these things all day long with the $1,500 monthly for the next 6 years.

Brand new truck and I can’t use it! In April I traded in a perfectly good 2018 Silverado 1500, low miles, for a 2024 F250 SD. Big mistake. On May 2 @ 3300 miles the air conditioner quit working. The dealer tells me that Ford made a bad batch of AC compressors, and now they have hundreds on backorder. It’s been over two months, and they’ve still not been able to provide a replacement. Here in South Central Texas the temperatures are reaching triple digits, so the truck is almost unusable. My calls to the Ford warranty line are pointless because no one at Ford can predict when a compressor will be available.

I want to know the salaries of the people that can afford these trucks. do we really have this many rich people in the USA?
@leedanielson74524 ай бұрын
There's a lot of people in this country that make good money, believe it or not... as far as these high-priced vehicles go, they are actually selling quite well... Projected sales of new cars and trucks in the US This year is estimated to be over 15 million... of course no records set but still pretty darn good.......

Very limited supply in Ontario Canada which is our biggest market. You essentially have to custom order to get one which means no buying power at all.
@welcti3 ай бұрын
It's a combo of the price and interest rates. I know people are going for longer terms these days, but a 100K truck @ 7% interest rate will have payments north of $1,500 a month - maybe as much as $1,800 a month with a previously-standard 5-year loan. I have bought all of my vehicles new, and I would like to get another HD truck at some point (I had a 2016 2500 Denali), but I've never paid more than about $700 a month for any vehicle - including that Denali - and $1,800/month is just too big of a jump, even with inflation.

I have two friends that have driven Super Duty’s for years , a little over a year ago they couldn’t get what they wanted and both bought Chevys . So that could be partly why, there into another brand and aren’t ready to trade now.
@GAdirtroad4 ай бұрын
People are starting to realize that the insane pricing you pay for these trucks WILL NOT mean reliability. The emission systems are killing reliability on these new trucks and making value and affordable ownership impossible.
