The problem with cars now, they throw all kinds of electronics that last about as long as your home computer, before they need replacing… 3 to 4 years. A new problem is that not only were they too ridiculously expensive but also that they sat on stealership lots for too long. Now you run the big risk of Lot Rot. It happened to a guy in Arizona. He drove in from Nevada to buy a Ford truck because he got sick of waiting for prices to come down. The truck broke down when he was driving home from the stealership! Turns out mice had chewed away at the wires under the hood! That's why a $30K discount on a RAM pickup means nothing to me. It's also hardly budging in northern Texas. Checked out a few stealerships and the lot rot is bad. Many of the vehicles were so filthy that I couldn't read the window stickers. i gave up and went home. I'm sure they weren't marked down as I've checked around for over EIGHTEEN MONTHS. They can let them continue rotting.

In the Dallas area they won’t really negotiate on Tahoe, Yukon or HD trucks. They think a 1-2k discount is fabulous on a truck that is priced about 20-30k to high to begin with and they won’t budge. 3 dealers let me walk out the door. You say they are starving but I’m not seeing that. At least not GM. Jeep yes, they are a good 15k off but they are so overpriced way beyond GM and Ford to begin with. And now with the 2025s they have zero discounts here.

I’ve got a 2020 f150 3.5 with 28k miles , paid off , I went in to dealer just looking , all 3 , gm , Ford and dodge . They won’t leave me alone , I like the gmc 2500 trucks the best but $88k + for a truck is nuts, the dealer said he’d give me a stupid deal $77k . I told him I’m good , just because I can afford it doesn’t mean I should . Looks like I’m going to keep my paid off truck instead . Let it Rot lol plus too many issues with the new ones

No car payments, No credit card payments, A home that is paid for. I will never buy a new vehicle and lose 20 grand or more in the first year of depreciation. Good luck fools that end up with a 700 dollar + payment and 72 month payment plan. Can you say STUPID!!!!!!!!

If you have no car payments, no credit card payments, and a home that is paid for, you can probably buy a car and pay it off with the first payment. The fact that you don't buy a car is how you got to the point where you could.

A vehicle is not an investment in any way, it’s a liability, a money pit that depreciates from the moment you drive it off the lot. I’d rather have no debt than a shiny new car that loses money every day.

New cars and trucks are way overpriced, way too many bells and whistles which is just more shit to break and they basically have turned into rolling computers with engines that are almost impossible to work on yourself. Trucks especially have become bloated gas sucking buggies with no alternative small truck options on the market anymore. The industry fucked itself.

2 massive things different in Australia that dealers could do in the USA to help sales. A) keep most your inventory off site and just have a few of each model on the lot to give the appearance that stock is flying out the door. B) don’t put any extras on the cars unless customers want them that way the customer can option any model exactly how they want.

I bought my last new vehicle I will ever buy in 2018, a Ram 2500 limited with everything on it, $57,500.00. I shopped for over a year and got what I wanted for the price I thought was decent, same vehicle now in 2024 is almost 100k, I laugh at these prices and just keep driving. Usually keep my vehicles for 20 years, still driving my 2003 Dodge Ram also.

❤️🖤💙 i own a 2019 392 Daytona fully loaded paid $47.000 out the door I live directly across the street from the Dodge dealership, they call me every day trying to get me to come in. When Dodge made the last call on Chargers and challengers, they played a very dangerous game charging people $70,000 for Scat packs$ 80 ,000 for hell cats over a $100 ,000 for demons with markups. And people went for it So I blame Dodge. For that market, crashing because right after they did it, everybody else followed suit. They have brand new hellcats sitting 40 yd away from my house, I walk outside. Look at them and laugh. Not to mention These cars have been sitting there for almost 2 years and not one of them has moved not even a test drive 😂

this is what happens when you let predatory loans run wild , all the morons who couldnt even afford to finance a cheeseburger got loans for WAY more then they ever could afford are all used up . people who common financial sense wont pay these prices and take 12% interest even with 800 credit scores. same with houses too. there is a big difference in the value of something and the cost of it .

Historically, this has been the trend every time the auto industry over inflates prices. That "balloon" was created during the pandemic. Baloons will always bust at some point. Many, like myself, just decided to drive my current car until the wheels fall off when they started (over) inflating prices.

I tried to buy a used Frontier on December 8 2025. I have a true 850 credit score. I’m the easiest person you could sell a car too. The dealer wanted $3800 in dealer add ons. It’s a 2024 Frontier!!! They are killing themselves. I walked out. We could have done a deal in 30 minutes but they tried to screw me as soon as I walked in the door. I laughed knowing the salesman is literally starving for a sale still shoot themselves in the foot.

I'm friends with my auto insurance agent. We were discussing this issue and he said the insurance industry is not covering purchase price of new vehicles. The dealer usually knows how much to get customers to put down knowing if you drive it off the lot and wrecks and totals vehicle 2 weeks later, vehicle is worth about 75% of purchase price. Insurance companies ain't gonna pay more than vehicle worth.

I would go to my credit union/bank first and ask what they would loan on the vehicle you want to buy. Then make that offer, cash on the barrel head to a dealer. Of course they want to finance, but you already know what your payments will be. If they don’t want to sell you a vehicle, walk. Try another dealer.
