Carlos needs to get fired asap. He’s killing the brand
@DesertStateInEUАй бұрын
Of course they're doing this on purpose. There are many examples of european automakers being absolutely terrified of having to compete with US brands on a level playing field. But the best example is Dodge and Chrysler. When it comes to 4 door V8 sedans, europe has nothing that competes with Dodge/Chrysler. NOTHING. Theres a massive vacuum in the market in that category. The cheapest european V8 sedan is the C63 amg, which starts at around $65K, and the one that competes with the Charger/300 in size is the E63 amg which is even more expensive. Meanwhile Chargers start at around $40K. If the Charger and 300 were officially imported to europe that would devastate the entire C and E class of Mercedes, no sane person would ever pay that much for a Mercedes again. And europe knows this, so you gotta pay excessive taxes and import fees as part of the european protectionist policies to save the european auto market. And it has been well established long ago by real car mechanics that work on these cars daily, that "german engineering" means nothing. Go ask the Car Wizard or Hoovies Garage. Also, before anybody replies with some nonsense about how europeans don't want American cars, just take a look at the netherlands. 9 out of 10 pickup trucks in the netherlands are the typical American trucks you see in the US. Thanks to a tax advantage if people register their vehicles as part of their business, they can buy them without the extra taxes and fees. And look at that, when the playing field is leveled, the dutch choose to buy American. The same thing would happen with the Charger and 300 if they were officially imported to europe and didn't have their price pushed up to artificially keep them from selling. Stellantis knows that November is coming up, and the previous guy is highly likely to get back in charge, and he'll likely push for more American products being sold in Europe, and at a fair price. They're trying to destroy these brands because to them this is a legitimate strategy to protect their own brands.

Correct, Tavares has killed the brand. Every decision from the software defined upgrades, to the commitment to EV to the dismantling of Chrysler, has all been an intentional effort to kill one of the Iconic American brands. The word in Tavares' opening statement that caught my attention was saying that consumers do not WANT to pay the higher price for an EV. The truth is that most consumers CANNOT afford to pay the higher prices. It's a subtle but very meaningful difference. All new cars, including ICE ones, are so overpriced. They are starting to run out of buyers and there simply will not be enough consumers to support all these brands. I once heard Dr. Peterson say that if you can't understand someone's motive look at the result and infer the motive. If we can't understand why Tavares is making these decisions when we know it will destroy the brands then perhaps that is the motive.

GM and Ford are doing EVs the smart way. By smart, I mean fleecing the government for money up front and then dragging their feet on the implementation, hoping that Trump/generic Republican takes office. Both companies from top-level executives to bottom level assembly workers know damn well that EVs are just a fad, and they're treating them as such, only investing as much money into them as the government gives them. Because the second government money dries up, they're ditching the idea entirely.

Incorrect. We just got a Subaru Solterra EV as our 2nd vehicle so we have access to EV and ICE whichever is best-fit. @@herbwheeler4470 You can order them. I know several people who own base models like for example a 2023 Chevy 1500 single cab long bed 2.7 with vinyl interior and steel wheels in white. It did have to be special ordered and took a few months to arrive. So it is possible to buy them, you just have to do some planning. My mother bought a 2024 Buick Envista, base model without blind spot warning and with 17 inch wheels. That one was on the dealership lot but had come so recently that it was still wrapped in plastic when she bought it. Since Buick has been going with the 3 trim levels rather than a million options it is significantly easier to find the base models. One dealer that seems to have a lot of base models on their lot is the local Mitsubishi dealer. At least at my local dealer, about 50 percent of the stock is base models.

Yep. Very similar to when Daimler took over Chrysler, then dumped them years later onto Cerberus Capital Management. What does a capital management company know about cars? Then add insult to injury by selling out to Fiat which only knows how to make bad cars (Chrysler 200? Dodge Dart?). They never positioned the brand for success. Now this euro joke of a company, Stellantis, just like Dr Z and his cronies at Daimler, is going to finally finish the job of ruining the brand. Tim K and Gilles worked with what they had (an old Mercedes) to try and make something to appeal to customers but it was all on borrowed time. Even Jeep is no longer enough to keep the brand going. It’s why my only Mopars are from the 60s and 70s when the brand had its own individuality. Sorry for the rant. I grew up with Chrysler products and adored them like my dad did. I miss the original Chrysler Corporation, also known back then as “the engineering company “.

Thank you Brad for all the great content, especially your last two great videos so heartfelt and steeped in truly helping people. Tavares’ statement lands so oversimplified and boilerplate. Does not take any considerations of a brand’s defining character, certainly not that of Dodge. He’s either clueless or ignores the brand. Safe and affordable, great, sure, but clean can be achieved in different ways. EVs can be great, I’ve driven a number of them, they make an excellent daily driver in greater LA but it is just so off brand to suddenly push an EV-powered Dodge Charger. It just does not compute, at least not right now. There are other ways to meet cleaner propulsion standards (there is no formal EV mandate by the way, just efficiency goals by certain years, and the industry has largely jumped on the EV train to meet them) and, hey Stellantis, if those other Detroit competitors can continue to offer I.C.E V8s, you surely can product plan your lineup better to figure out a way to as well.

50K for that shit is still way too damn much and yeah there's no way you actually find one at that price
@Thurmanatr16Ай бұрын
60K for RT, to start (including destination).

That Ionic N is pretty cool, it's beating the snot out of a lot of high end ice cars ie: BMW M4 COM, LABO's may I say, DARK HORSIE!

Yes, but they got rid of the hellcat this garbage

I don't want any EV. I will buy a restored classic instead from 65 to 74. Carlos can not have a clue. Ge has to go!

Thanks for the Hemi, Chrysler. Was nice knowing you.

Will never buy an EV RT having a fake v8 sound is insane. It's more than just speed, when you own a muscle car, there is nothing like it driving on the highway with my V8 roaring down the road. Sitting in the cabin, it's an experience❤

I'm glad I watched this, I was under the impression I wanted a 4 door 3/4 ton Ramcharger. I'm glad he cleared that up for me.

My 16 ¾ ram might be at risk for trade in if they came out with that

They should’ve just name these either Dodge Laser, Spirit, Shadow, Stealth or anything else not name Charger/Challenger.

Yup, the melted jelly bean also has a much smaller battery pack too! Making it even more cost effective against the scat pack.
@mmf9765Ай бұрын
Standard model s and model 3 performance over the scatpack lol

We need a new Leader for the brand. Someone who understands the customer base. I also believe they should just use the carbon fiber 70 Charger mold they were displaying at Sema recently and just make a reboot using that. Along with installing a Hemi of 900-1000 HP of course. Brand saved overnight. MOST OF ALL bring the prices down like when we had Power Dollars around 2019.👍 I really enjoy these videos and how informative they are keep it going.

Keeping an EV in your garage is a BAD idea,

Anyone who checks the specs will choose the Tesla. Why would dealers even consider taking allocations?

I think you should do a video simply talking about your taste in whiskey, Bourbon, Scotch, Canadian and American whiskey.

What is the complaint with the styling? It sticks to the classic Charger look. Yes, it's huge for a coupe but I love that.

I purchased a 2017 Chevy SS aka Holden Commodore brand new in 2017 for 45k. At the time I believe that car was the best car you could get at that price point.

Who would have thought a fake muscle car run on cell phone batteries with fake exhaust sound was a horrible idea?
@ttss5726Ай бұрын
The government needs to step in and put laws in the place regarding cars when it leaves the manufacturer with its price tag. That is the price tag. It should be on the lot of a dealer, and the dealer should not be allowed to add things that nobody asked for if a customer wants it they’ll ask for and then pay the price.
@dyer2cycleАй бұрын
Nah..government stepping in(OVER stepping) is why we are having to deal with all this expensive, high-tech feature, over-complicated stuff to begin with...and that's not even to mention the push for EV's...
@StillFlyingSoulo28 күн бұрын
Starting price is what dealers can pay when purchasing in bulk… that’s what I always assumed but likely wrong 😂
@Thurmanatr16Ай бұрын
You mean 6,000 pound RTs that start around $60K are the absolute endgame of the brand? Yep, it’s never been this over.
@johnmcmullen456Ай бұрын
I get the point about the Charger's weight but wish all performance cars would be no more than $10 per pound.

We just want a way to still have Hemis back in even if they have to be developed to be fuel efficient like GM is doing with the 5.3

You can get a used model 3 performance for mid to low 20s why would you way over pay for a slower dodge..
