As a software developer when I don’t feel like working cuz lack of focus/motivation I try to do something else(like powernap while in WFH or walk around the office) for a bit then power through my tasks. It really works for me. And it takes less time like this than sitting at the desk unfocused.

Hi Mayuko :-) - A great discussion around 'procrastination', I love that you take time to really delve deep into the topics that you talk about. It is a real and honest perspective. We are human and while there is a lot that is similar between us, there is a lot that is different, we really need to figure out what works for us. Also, what works changes throughout our lives and that self-awareness is key. Thank you for sharing! x Stay safe and well x p.s. I watched your conversation/interview with Sheen, it was great! So interesting to hear what you both thought :-)

Amuse me so much to hear those thoughts and valuable perspectives, from someone that inspires me. As well as you make things happen, you also show to us how humble and approachable you are. Every content I get the same fuel "keep going, girl. Please don't give up now, look how far you've come!!!"(even though it's hard to relentlessly reminding myself of it,I try hahahaahh) anyways, big thanks! You're great!

Really appreciate your perspective on procrastination. I constantly used to judge myself but like you with age and experiences, I feel I'm getting a bit better but still a long way to be near perfect. Also, I love watching these types of videos on your channel rather than "career" related. Just coz I feel at peace when I watch your lifestyle videos. Anyways, hope you are doing well and take care.

The secret to overcoming procrastination: focus on the actual joy of freedom and satisfaction of a job well done from attending to your tasks when needed. For big tasks/projects, break them down to manageable tasks, and finish each one on a high/interesting point so you have motivation to continue later.

Sometimes it helps to sandwich work and play. Start the day off with play, work, then end the day with play. It's like the play is your html body tags, and your work is all that clutter in between them. Or you can oscillate between the two during the day, if possible. I don't really know, though. I haven't completely figured this out myself. But I don't feel so bad about procrastination anymore. If you're procrastinating, that means you're trying. It's just that you started trying kind of late 😂 . I think it's time to worry when you no longer care to meet deadlines.

I recalled writing something about procrastination, and YES! Procrastination is not a bad thing at all! In fact, I was once trying my very best to avoid studying for my Finals. Had way too much readings I needed to finish before the exam and I just wanted a break or get away from it. Somehow, someway, I drifted off to coding a small telegram bot that feeds Motorcycle riders with Weather information and organizing group rides, (and I wouldn't say I love coding to be a source of distraction and entertainment), just to get myself away from my Final exam's preparation. Boy, did that got me building a bot that's used by hundreds now. Had there been no procrastination from studying, I guess I wouldn't have built this useful piece of bot. At the end of the day, I do feel that procrastination is just our productive-self asking for some Creative Freedom. #ProcrastinateAway

With my studies (trying to become a linux server admin at 40 :-/) I find the more I have the feeling all this effort my not materialize into an actual job/profession, then wisely my brain tells me to stop, to not waste my resources. There's a lot of sense to that feeling. I love Linux, but I think the way society wants us to focus on things merely on their practical value, has distorted and distroyed all enjoyment out of professional life.

I kinda wish my girlfriend would find your videos and maybe she could see you as a role model... She's really struggling and I feel like she's losing her ways and losing confidence... I really want her to get her confidence back but nothing I say or try to do helps or gets by her at all. I feel like if I send your videos to her she would reject it like she did everything else I tried recently... I wish someone else could help restore her confidence and maybe guide her a little bit. Honestly I don't have much money now but if I find the right person, like a successful proud confident woman who's good at teaching and connecting to people and speaks preferably Japanese but also English, I would pay to have them talk to my girl

I think the issue is that people leave it until the last minute and don't do as well as they COULD'VE. It's okay to have a REASONABLE amount of procrastination, but there's a point where it's not okay. Hydrating exercising, organization, socialization is okay, but watching youtube videos is a waste of time lol. Interesting video :)
