Definitely the best outcome for 5e. While I doubt I will ever buy another WoTC 5e product, I am especially unlikely to buy any OneDND product until I become more sure what the use/terms is for that. But the plus side, my group is more open to 3rd party products considering the debacle which in turn may hopefully lead to them embracing other systems as well.

@@marcuswestphal4955 The problem is they're not listening. They pretend to be listening. Instead, they're looking for another avenue to push the exact same thing. This is the way bureaucrats on board of directors and companies think and operate. They just look for a different angle. Like I said before, this is not the 1st time they have done something like this. The people who started the company and the franchise are not the people in charge now. The people who started the company and the franchise enjoyed what they were doing. They understood the setting, and they understood the environment. The people in charge now are just business bureaucrats, nothing more. They care about the amount of revenue they can get for the cheapest output. They care about what they are legally capable of getting away with. If the fans come against something they did, they will stop if it stops making money. If it hurts the bottom line, they will not permanently stop they will just look for a different way to do the same thing if they think it will bring in more revenue. They have not ever been someone who would enjoy this genre. The only game they probably ever played would be leisure suit Larry computer game back in the eighties.

I will probably continue to play 5e, maybe buy one or two supplements already out, but Wizards is on notice. I was already starting to branch out towards Starfinder anyway (which is how I discovered your channel) before all this chicanery came out, so it really wouldn't be too hard to move forward and never look back. Hell, Pathfinder was my initial introduction to RPGs back in the day, and I only moved to 5e because when I moved no one local played Pathfinder. I still haven't checked out second edition yet, so now may be as good a time as any. . .

I wouldn't abandon wotc right now, atleast not fully. It's always good to have a back up plan, but in my horrendously humble opinion abandoning now would teach the company that people will abandon them no matter what they do. Which could lead to very bad things.

No matter what Hasbro says, they seem to find a way of twisting it to mean something different. I'm still looking at the ORC as a better, hopefully more trustworthy, alternative.. Right now, Hasbro have got a movie coming out and they don't want people throwing tantrums at the party.. But, going by their previous behaviour, I'm also convinced they're also working on a few more traps to spring on us later..

Well don't fucking buy this trash, WotC could never made the changes they wanted to the OGL legally and now they more or less confirmed that we won't get much more for DND 5e because it's now "unrevokable open" like i read the original OGL, i don't get this idea that it's some mesaiha document as well, it's basically the sheer basics all other pnp RPGs are built on... You are all applauding the equivalent of a signs that said "free refills" being put back on a public tap. What's gonna happen now is that they will try to get the DND community to spread the news that "they won" than DND one will be the cash cow DND 5e could never legally be...like legally DND would never been able to go through with all the fear mongering that people where speaking bull about as well.. court even as messed up as amarica could never ever ruled this in WotC favour...i read the original and the new version...there was never going to be a outcome of this shit other than the difference between DND making lots of noice in court or not.
