I thought I could have a couple of drinks and next thing I know I was blackout drunk again embarrassing myself with bad anxiety hangovers. I was drinking at work and cheating on my spouse. The first time I was a drinker I went to jail and detox and got in fights, passed out in public. My sister's drink too even though they know what happened to me and the chaos it causes in their life. My bil drinks so bad he doesn't work and his house is a pig sty he can't bother to clean. It's the federal government who chose to legalize alcohol. They knew how dangerous and addictive it was. It's a form of control.

Is it the type of alcohol we drink? Is it bingeing? Are these statistics the same for the French or Italians who smoke cigs and enjoy wine with dinner?

I wonder what it is about those who get hooked on it vs those who can just have a drink and turn it off. Never been a big deal for me thank god.

Three years sober. Not a sip. Best decision I've ever made. It saved my marriage, my job, my kids, and my LIFE to abstain from alcohol

I am an alcoholic. I know it is poison. I hate that it is normalized. All alcohol advertisement should be banned anywhere a child could possibly see it. At least the same way cigarette advertisement is banned in certain places.

I drank too much when I was in my early 20s. Luckily my job took be to a dry country when I was 24. After that I lost the urge and habit. I have a beer once in a while. I feel so good being sober. Look at the joy in Vinnie's persona. He looks so happy and healthy. I am incredibly happy for him!

I turned it WAY down about six months ago and about a month ago shut it off completely. I've lost weight and I feel a lot better, physically and emotionally. I don't just feel good, but I feel good about myself. And it's great that I'm not spending my money on it. I used to feel like I needed it after a hard day, or to celebrate victories but now that I'm not drinking I realize that I don't and I'm better off without. I recommend quitting drinking to anyone. Like don't wait until you're out of control, you don't need that crap.

It seems like everyone who is against alcohol has a personal experience with severe alcoholism. Whether it’s raised by alcoholic parents or they became an alcoholic themselves. Yes, alcohol can be bad but most people don’t experience severe alcoholism and most things in moderation are not super harmful. Just because I see obese people doesn’t mean fast food doesn’t have a place in society. If you choose to drink, great more power to you; but if you choose not to drink, also great more power to you. I see in this productivity culture that everything we do has to be good for us in some way. I think that is a terrible way to live.

Most people don't look at the alternative to alcohol, Prohibition And even to this day, the crimes committed, including the income tax, have inflicted untold suffering to total strangers under that moral grandstanding.

This may have been true in the past, but not anymore. People are waking up to the fact that alcohol is a carcinogenic poison, and they don’t want it in their bodies. Almost every beer manufacturer now has a non-alcoholic option because people are truly waking up to the damage that alcohol has done to our society.

Just curious. When you are a person who quit Alcohol. Were you the type get drunk or just had a drink or two once or twice a week? For example. My bottle of scotch can last almost 2 years in my cabinet. If I have people over, that bottle will be finished. But, I never rush out to buy more. I know people who can finish two bottles a night on weekends.

I'll be 8 months sober on July 7th. I was the type to get drunk every time I drank and would drink 4-5 nights a week. I would consider the problem to be when you want to drink daily and make a habit of drinking like I did. One or two drinks a week was never a thing for me. One or two drinks a night wasn't even a thing for me. That's why I just don't need to involve it in my life at all. I prefer to smoke pot and can control that so much better than alcohol but it is frowned upon in my area and job still. My job didn't care that I would go home and drink a 5th or 18 beers every night as long as I didn't smoke a little grass.
